Wardell Stephen Curry II, commonly known as Steph Curry, recently opened up about his insecurities in a June 2, 2025, CNBC interview. The NBA champion discussed how he sometimes doubts himself and experiences impostor syndrome.
Despite being a successful basketball player, who can be considered one of the best NBA players of his generation, the Golden State Warriors point guard claimed that there are times when he feels underconfident.
The 37-year-old Steph Curry was drafted for the NBA in 2009. He is married to Ayesha Curry, a Canadian-American actress, with whom he shares four children: Ryan, Riley, Canon, and Caius (born in May 2024). The four-time NBA champion first met his wife, Ayesha, when they were teenagers. They came across each other at a church in 2003. As their romance began, they eventually got hitched in 2011.
The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, Steph Curry, while talking about his insecurities during the CNBC interview, said:
"I’m human like everybody. You have doubts about yourself, or you have impostor syndrome at times."
When a surprised Alex Sherman, who was interviewing him, asked whether he still experienced impostor syndrome, the NBA champion said:
"At times, yeah."
Curry continued and clarified, saying:
"It’s an idea of, ‘Are you doing everything you can to take care of people that are relying on you?’ 'Are you fulfilling your full potential in all different areas that I’ve set out to do?'"
Steph Curry's wife, Ayesha Curry, also talks about dealing with impostor syndrome

It's not only the basketball champion, Steph Curry, who experienced impostor syndrome, but his wife has dealt with it too. In an exclusive interview with People Magazine in February, Ayesha discussed dealing with impostor syndrome. The 36-year-old actress and mother of four claimed that putting in the right effort and working hard are two things that matter when it comes to their relationship. Ayesha said:
"Any move that's going to be made starts in our little internal, two-person circle."
She went ahead and added:
"It's so embarrassing...I feel like business talk is foreplay for us. Like, 'So what's going on in your world? What's going on in yours?' I love it. We literally bounce off of each other."
However, while Steph and Ayesha are living a happy married life, the NBA champion recently became the first player to reach 4000 career 3-pointers. While speaking with ESPN, the Golden State Warriors' point guard said:
"It's beyond my wildest dreams to push a record that far."
