Amanda Seyfried apparently has a bone to pick with Paramount Pictures. While Mean Girls has cemented her status as a respected actor, Seyfried alleges Paramount Pictures has not paid her for using her ā€œlikenessā€ on Mean Girls merchandise, which is still marketed and sold to this day.

During a recent conversation with Adam Brody for a new Actors on Actors segment for Variety, when the topic of Mean Girls was broached, Amanda Seyfried shared:

ā€œI really love seeing my face on people’s T-shirts. I mean, I’m a little resentful because Paramount still owes me some money.ā€

Amanda Seyfried earned her first major Hollywood break playing the role of Karen Smith in the 2004 teen comedy that propelled her career. In her conversation with Brody, she mentioned how she didn't feel like her likeness was being used fairly, and this extends to her cast members as well. She stated:

ā€œEvery store sells Mean Girls T-shirts with our faces on [them]. Photographs!ā€

This led her to question if her naivety backed her into her current predicament:

ā€œIs it because I was 17 and dumb?ā€

Still, Seyfried relishes in the fact that she was a part of something so transcendental in its space while also recognizing how little of an impact she felt she had on the finished product as a result of her inexperience:

ā€œI’m like, ā€˜Great, I was seven [teen], I had nothing to do with it.ā€™ā€

While outlets have reached out to representatives at Paramount Pictures for comments, there has been no response from their side regarding the matter to date.

Amanda Seyfried will be starring in Paul Feig’s upcoming psychological thriller The Housemaid alongside Sydney Sweeney. The plot:

ā€œFollows a struggling woman who is happy to start over as a housemaid for an affluent, elite couple.ā€

Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone round out the cast in this highly anticipated follow-up to Feig’s Prime Video hit Another Simple Favor starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. The film is currently in post-production and is primed for a Christmas 2025 release date.

According to Deadline, the Oscar-nominated actress has been cast opposite Scoot McNairy in The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd, a prison-break thriller directed by Tim Blake Nelson. The film will follow the character of a teacher in an abusive marriage who takes a job at a maximum security prison, where she falls for a charismatic inmate to devastating consequences.
