Blake Lively Navigates a Complex Year

Blake Lively seemed to have maintained a high profile on the promotional circuit for Another Simple Favor by making the rounds on various talk shows just prior to the film's May 1 release on Prime Video. Joining her in the promotions were co-star Anna Kendrick and Blake's husband, actor Ryan Reynolds. Together, the trio appeared at major premieres and events like the TIME 100 Gala.

While Lively kept herself in the media spotlight with regards to the film, she also chose to speak less regarding her ongoing legal drama involving co-star Justin Baldoni of It Ends With Us.

In December of 2024, Lively initiated a lawsuit against Baldoni, where she accused him of sexual harassment while being on set, and further asserting that he masterminded a smear campaign against her during promotional activities. In reciprocation, Baldoni filed a counter-suit, alleging defamation and extortion against Lively, Reynolds, and Lively's publicist, Leslie Sloane. The couple denied the allegations, while Sloane filed a formal motion asking to be dismissed from the case.

Though she avoided naming the legal issues directly, Blake Lively’s remarks at the April 25 TIME 100 Gala were seen by many as an indirect reference to the current legal challenges.

“I have so much to say about the last two years of my life, but tonight is not the forum, what I will speak to, separately, is the feeling of being a woman who has a voice today.” shared the actress.

She shared her thoughts on how women faced a dark reality:

“We don’t let our daughters know, but one day we break their hearts by letting them in on the secret that we kept from them as they pranced around in princess dresses, that they are not and will likely never be safe at work, at home, in a parking lot, in a medical office, online — in any space they inhabit physically, emotionally, professionally.” explained Lively.
