Country music star Megan Moroney has opened a pop-up bar at L27 Rooftop Lounge in Nashville. On June 6, the singer-songwriter performed during the opening of the bar, which is named The Emo Cowgirl.

While performing at the pop-up, Moroney shared tidbits from her experience of the space with the audience. As per People Magazine, Moroney shared that she once fell face-first at the bar. She said,

“I was really drunk when I got up on the elevator. I didn't eat lunch that day.”

People Magazine also reported that Moroney enthralled patrons of The Emo Cowgirl with performances of songs such as, I'm Not Pretty, Bless Your Heart, No Caller ID and Man on the Moon. The outlet noted that Moroney shared that the bar was the place where she met the person who was the inspiration behind her song, Break It Right Back.

According to the website of the pop-up, The Emo Cowgirl will be open till August 31.

Megan Moroney on her career

In March 2025, Megan Moroney appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone. During the interview, she opened up about her signature look and, while shrugging off criticism, said,

“It’s the juxtaposition of my vulnerable, emotional songs with someone that looks very put-together and over-the-top. This is who I am. And if that’s the barrier that makes you not want to listen to my music, then …”

Continuing, Moroney added,

“There are people that are like, ‘Oh, this Barbie doll can’t have much depth to her.’ It doesn’t bother me when people say it, because if you listen to my music, that’s the opposite of the truth.”

As per Moroney, her 2023 album Lucky was the first to establish her ‘emo cowgirl’ look.

Moroney also candidly spoke about her early career as a TikTok influencer and explained that it made it possible for her to pursue music. She told Rolling Stone,

“I could do pretty much anything because I was making money on the internet rather than having a 9-to-5. If I had a marketing job out of college, I wouldn’t have the freedom and mental space to get good at songwriting.”

During her conversation with Rolling Stone, Moroney shared the depth of connection she feels with certain fans, and said,

"I’ve had dads cry at meet-and-greets and say that they’re so grateful for my music. If they didn’t have my songs, they wouldn’t feel as close to their daughters. If I have a migraine before I go onstage, it’s like, ‘Well, it’s all worth it because you’re out here impacting people.’ That’s why I love writing songs that mean shit.”

Moroney, who released her second album, Am I Ok? In 2024, recently shared the progress on her next album. Speaking to People Magazine at the American Music Awards last month, Moroney said,

“I'm always writing. I mean, I would say that my next album is probably like 80% written”

Describing the tone of the album, Moroney told the publication,

“I would say I've still got the emo cowgirl staples on there because it wouldn't be a Megan Moroney album without some heart-wrenching thing, but I do think it's lighter and it's really fun.”

In 2024, Megan Moroney received a Country Music Association Award for New Artist of the Year.
