Gwyneth Paltrow recently made a public appearance at the immersive exhibition ‘The Forest Within' in New York City. While attending the exhibition, which is a collaboration between the 52-year-old actress and New York’s eminent cultural destination, Genesis House, Paltrow shared her approach to parenting.

Speaking to People Magazine while at the exhibition venue, Paltrow shared,

“I think I really encourage them to be true to themselves…I really want them, even if I don't agree with it, like, I want them to be really true to their idea of their purpose and their individuality”

About Gwyneth Paltrow’s children

Gwyneth Paltrow shares two children with her ex-husband, musician Chris Martin. The ex-couple’s first child, a daughter named Apple Blythe Alison Martin, was born in 2004. She began college in 2022 and is currently completing her degree at Vanderbilt University, as per Harper's Bazaar.

During her recent interview with People Magazine, Paltrow revealed what her advice was to her college-going daughter. Paltrow said,

“I'm like, ‘right, soak it in, and you know, it goes really fast.’”

Paltrow also spoke about Moses Martin during her conversation with the news outlet. Moses Martin is Paltrow and Chris Martin’s second child, born in 2006. Paltrow shared that her son lives on the East Coast and expressed her happiness at being able to meet him when she was filming close to where he stayed.

Both of Paltrow’s biological children share an interest in music. Her elder daughter, Apple, has already been credited as a songwriter for one of the tracks in her father’s band, Coldplay’s 2021 album Music of the Spheres.

Paltrow’s teenage son, Moses, revealed that he is also interested in music when he appeared with his mother on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Fallon in 2020.

Paltrow has in the past shared her approach to co-parenting after her divorce from Chris Martin. In a 2016 interview with Glamour magazine, Paltrow revealed,

“Well, if you have children together, number one is a dedication to what's best for the kids. We put a lot of thought into how to do it so that the damage would be minimized…We spend a lot of time together…We're still very much a family, even though we don't have a romantic relationship. He's like my brother.”

Gwyneth Paltrow's experience as a stepmother

Apart from her biological children, Paltrow is also a stepmother to her second husband, Brad Falchuk’s children from his earlier marriage. In 2023, People Magazine reported on Paltrow’s experience as a stepmother. The report quoted Paltrow’s Instagram Q&A session, where she had said,

“all of the existing media around what a stepmother is casts us in this evil, villainous light…So it’s kind of like trying to avoid land mines. And then you’re going into a family with dynamics. And there’s all kinds of fear around loss and what does this person mean?…But for myself, the minute I decided, and fully embodied the idea that my step kids were my kids and I love them just as much and I gave them the same rules and boundaries, and just kind of whole-heartedly went for it, then the easier the whole thing got. And now it’s pretty great.”

Falchuk and Paltrow have been married since 2018.
