American actress and director, Elizabeth Banks, best known for The Hunger Games and Charlie's Angels, used to be a chambermaid before she entered Hollywood.
During a May 28 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Elizabeth listed all the odd jobs she did before she started acting as a full-time job. She said,
"I started working really young. I've done everything. I was a waitress for a decade. Also was a chambermaid at a bed and breakfast."
When Clarkson asked if she worked at a castle since the term 'chambermaid' sounded 'formal', Elizabeth said that she "cleaned toilets."
"I just have some advice for people who stay in hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, whatever. Please stop flushing things other than tepee down toilets."
She added,
"Like the amount of condoms and tampons I had to dig out of the toilets as a 17-year old is shocking to me."
Banks also said that she doesn't need a "glamorous" life, despite having a net worth of $50 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth. Her recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show isn't the first time she has talked about getting into acting "by accident." Banks also opened up about her career path in a November 2024 article by Harper's Bazaar,
"I got into acting by accident" - says Elizabeth Banks
During an interview with Harper's Bazaar, which was published in November 2024, Elizabeth Banks revealed that she got into acting by "accident."
"I got into acting by accident. I literally fell into performing. I was a student athlete, and I broke my leg sliding into third base playing softball when I was 13. I needed to find something new to do after school while my parents were at work."
Banks mentioned that her first role ever was "Pontius Pilate."
"I joined the cast of Jesus Chris Superstar playing Pontius Pilate, so I could wear a robe over my cast. I really found that it was like playing sports, in that you had a team of people, and you were all going to put on the show together, everybody was relying on each other to play their part well, and at the end, everybody claps. I thought: 'Wow, acting might be for me."
Elsewhere, while speaking to Kelly Clarkson on her show, Elizabeth Banks revealed that her two children currently have "no interest in" acting, but if they did take an interest, she would pitch in to help.
