Stranger Things actress Jennifer Marshall who played Max Mayfield's mother Susan Hargrove in the series recently spoke to TMZ about a reel that she posted on January 6 about her character's absence. Marshall mentioned that after sharing the reel, she heard back from a cast member and a couple of crew members that her comments could get her blacklisted from the industry.While talking about her January 6 reel, Marshall said that the reel was supposed to be "lighthearted" and she didn't expect the traction she received. While talking about Season 5, Marshall mentioned that the producers, The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy had the right to control the direction the show moves forward in. Marshall added that while she could not reveal why her character was left out, she was waiting to be called while the cast was shooting Season 5. Marshall said that she doesn't want to believe that there were "nefarious" reasons on leaving her character out.Marshall also noted that at the end of Season 2, the crew members were worried about her rapid weight loss, which was a result of Marshall's cancer battle. As many on set insinuated that Marshall had a "drug problem" or an eating disorder", she squashed the rumors when she told the Duffer Brothers that she was battling cancer, and worked on Season 4 amidst it. Marshall told the producers,"I had shot the entire season with cancer, I had done my treatments in between the episodes that I shot, I was looking forward to getting batter, I was on the path to recovery and that I couldn't wait to see them in Season 5."What did Jennifer Marshall post about her character?On January 6, Jennifer Marshall posted a reel with the text,"How often I think about where TF Max's mom was during season five lmao"In the caption, Marshall mentioned,"I had cancer, I get it. After Marshall posted the video, fans slammed Duffer Brothers for removing Marshall's character, when she might have been in need of the money for her cancer treatments.
