During an appearance on Channel Ten's The Project on May 21, singer KT Tunstall revealed that she went deaf in one ear after attending a Spice Girls concert.

Tunstall mentioned that she had taken a long flight to the concert in 2018, and the pressure of the flight combined with the loud music at the concert caused her sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL).

"I lost my hearing on tour in 2018 on one side. (Earlier) I had come off a long haul flight and I went to a Spice Girls concert which was amazing. I guess it was a combination of working too hard, travelling too much and something too loud and I lost some of my hearing."

This isn't the first time Tunstall has opened up about losing hearing in one ear. While speaking to Ok! Magazine in an article published last month, KT Tunstall said that the concert left her ears "ringing."

"It was a huge shock. I'm 97 percent deaf in that ear now and can't use a hearing aid because it's gone too far..."

She went on to clarify that while the incident happened after the concert, she's not blaming the girl group for her condition:

"I'm not blaming the Spice Girls, but I think it overloaded my nervous system. I woke up with ringing in my ear, like I'd gone underwater. I couldn't hear the car indicator or a shower in another room."

More about KT Tunstall's health condition

KT Tunstall recently, during an appearance on The Project and while in conversation with OK! Magazine, revealed that she had lost hearing in one ear after attending a Spice Girls concert in 2018.

While speaking to Ok! Magazine about losing 97% of her hearing in one ear, KT Tunstall mentioned that it wasn't the "worst part" and opened up about suffering from Vertigo,

"But the worst part wasn't the deafness, it was the vertigo. I lost my balance completely, for two or three months. That was really disabling. Thankfully it passed, and I can still write, record, perform - just in mono."

She went on to add that she saw the incident as a "message from the universe" telling her to "slow down" and "look after" herself. The singer, who was once adopted by Scottish couple David and Rosemarie Tunstall, during a conversation in January, revealed that she is considering adopting a child as she turns 50 this June.
