Speaking with People Magazine for an exclusive interview, the talk show host, 43, shared her plans for the summer with her son, whom she shares with ex-fiancé David Otunga.

"We just want to be outside, because he's about to be a junior in high school, so he's a basketball kid and a music kid," Hudson said. "So we love going to concerts and basketball games. I'm a basketball mom," she admits. "So you're going to see me at a lot of those sports events. And a lot of concerts. Because we love music too. So we're just going to hang out and have a fun summer because we worked really hard throughout this school year."

Jennifer Hudson and her son were spotted just weeks ago sporting matching Crocs at a Los Angeles Lakers vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves game. At the time, the matriarch wore some blue jeans, a black shirt, a leather jacket, and rhinestone-embezzled Crocs, while her son kept things simple with an all-black ensemble and gray Crocs.

The EGOT winner took to her Instagram in August last year to celebrate her son turning 15, as she penned in a heartfelt post:

"Team Jhud, can yal help wish my kid @d.o.j10 a very happy blest 15th birthday! I can not believe that I got a 15 year old ! God is good ! Happy Birthday , my baby!!!!"

Jennifer Hudson is infamous for keeping her child out of the spotlight, though the Chicago native frequently takes to social media to celebrate his accomplishments and milestones. She celebrated Mother's Day just this weekend, alongside her childhood best friend Walter Williams' birthday.

In photos on Instagram, the Dreamgirls actress can be seen reveling in the "double" celebrations by also striking a pose with her son, David Otunga Jr. Hudson dated David Otunga in 2007, and the following year, they got engaged. However, she parted ways with the former wrestler back in 2017.

"Yesterday was a double celebration here at JHud Productions!" she wrote in her caption, adding: "It was such a beautiful day celebrating Mother's Day and Walter's birthday! I hope your day was filled with love as you celebrated your mothers!!!"

The actress-singer made headlines when she made a surprise appearance at the Broadway musical, Smash, at the Imperial Theatre in New York City. Notably, Jennifer Hudson starred in season 2 of the 2012 TV series that paved the way for the stage production.
