In Love: George Clooney to lead Amy Bloom adaptation alongside Annette Bening

In Love is an upcoming film based on author and psychotherapist Amy Bloom's 2022 memoir In Love: A Memoir of Love and Loss, which was a New York Times best-seller. George Clooney is in talks to star in the film along with Annette Bening in the lead roles.

It will be helmed by Paul Weitz, who has directed titles like American Pie, Little Fockers, and Fatherhood, among others. The script is written by Weitz and Bloom.

George Clooney and Annette Bening to star in 'In Love'

Deadline has reported that George Clooney and Annette Bening will be starring in Amy Bloom's 2022 memoir, In Love: A Memoir of Love and Loss. The film will be titled In Love, and it will be directed by Paul Weitz, who has co-written the script with Bloom.

The memoir topped the list of Time magazine’s 2022 non-fiction books, and also found its place in the magazine's 100 must-read novels. The film has been developed by Julia Lebedev and Eddie Vaisman, who will be producing it under the banner of Sight Unseen, while Weitz and Andrew Miano will back it via Depth of Field.

Clooney, who is playing a lead role, is also co-producing along with Grant Heslov under the banner of Smokehouse Pictures. Anton's Sebastian Raybaud is also one of the financiers on board.

In a statement, Weitz said:

“Amy’s memoir is a contemporary fable of love, wit and existential stakes. I can’t wait to do it justice with this amazing cast.”

Amy Bloom added,

“I have been so lucky to work with Eddie and Julie, so lucky to write with Paul and so grateful that this story of lasting love gets to be told on the screen, in Paul’s gifted hands, by two of the greatest actors in America."

In her career, Bloom has written several novels, short stories, and screenplays, including Love Invents Us (1997), White Houses (2018), A Blind Man Can See How Much I Love You: Stories (2000), and the 2021 animated film Wish Dragon.

Meanwhile, Weitz has directed titles like American Pie (1999), About a Boy (2002), In Good Company (2004), Little Fockers (2010), and Moving On (2022), among others.

The makers of In Love are expected to reveal more details about the film in the coming months.
