Celebrated hip-hop and R&B artist Ray J is reportedly hospitalised for pneumonia. As reported by TMZ, the 44-year-old artist was admitted on January 6, along with signs of heart pains.Ray J, as reported, was also previously diagnosed with non-COVID pneumonia in 2021, which left him on oxygen support and temporarily required him to use an inhaler, an experience he described as close to death, per TMZ.Interestingly, Ray revealed that he’s part of a new show called Celebrity Hitchhiker a few weeks ago via his Instagram account. Filmed in Tampa, Florida, he captioned the video,“I need some food and I need shelter. Just a lot of sh*t that’s happened. And I just wanna get back home and see my kids. It’s a hitchhiking show, but it’s real though at the same time, and I wanna make it really authentic. I just do it for real on my phone. I mean, I have a camera in there too, but it’s just me.”The video is still up on his profile. Last year in July, a video of Norwood Jr. surfaced that sparked concerns around his mental health. In the video, he's seen walking around a hotel room with what resembles a bottle of alcohol. He then proceeded to reveal that him seeking out professional help from life coach Dr. Cheyenne Bryant.“A lot of people are telling me just talk to somebody and let them know what you're going through. So, Dr. Bryant is here and I know y'all have seen her work and how real she keeps it.”Ray later revealed that Dr. Bryant thought that he was in the midst of 'a crisis having suicidal ideations'.Furthermore, while filming Celebrity Big Brother in the UK, Norwood Jr. was hospitalised and eventually evicted after just a week, due to severe tooth pain that caused him to black out. Singer's manager, David Weintraub, later alleged the show's production team had "ignored" his medical requests and made him continue filming.In the last development before this week's hospitalisation, American Express had reported suing Norwood Jr. and his company, Tronix Network, on account of his missing payments against his credit card debt of almost $140,000. Ray J had stopped his payments in May.
