Brad Pitt is reportedly making a last-ditch effort to patch things up with his twins, who are approaching their birthday on July 12. Twins Knox and Vivienne, who turn 17 tomorrow, have reportedly maintained distance from their father ever since his divorce from Angelina Jolie, but Pitt seems insistent upon turning things around in their relationship.
A source has confirmed the same through a statement given to The Daily Mail, which read as follows:
"Brad's desperate to give it one final shot to get together with them and make amends, even though he knows the chance they'll agree to spend time with him is remote to say the least."
A second source went on to add the weight of expectations on the twins' shoulders as well, when adding the following:
"He will always believe and always hope there is a chance to be back with all of them, and he doesn’t want to think otherwise. He doesn’t want to give up, he’s not that kind of guy, he’s not that kind of father. He is a proud father, and he would be happy to have them see that eventually. Now they have to make the move because he has tried over and over again to get back in their good graces"
Although it is reported that Brad Pitt does see the twins occasionally, Vivienne has already dropped "Pitt" from her surname, following in the footsteps of sisters Shiloh and Zahara. Conversely, Knox has maintained the “Jolie-Pitt” surname, which has encouraged Pitt to remain persistent in his efforts to win them over.
Despite the tense nature of their relationship, it has been reported that the actor harbors hopes of mending the fence with his children.
What caused Brad Pitt's disentanglement with his children?
The separation between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in 2016 has had lasting effects on their entire family. A private jet incident from 2016 involving an altercation between Brad and his adopted son Maddox (then 15) reportedly led to the couple's separation.
His children have largely maintained their distance from him in the wake of his incident, with Pax and Maddox growing particularly critical of Pitt on social media over the years. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce was finalized last year. The former has always refrained from talking about his private affairs in public spheres.
Another insider with the know-how of the situation elaborated on the dynamics of the situation in an interview with National Enquirer. The source also shed light on the urgency of the situation and gave hints about Pitt's next course of action. In the interview, the source was quoted as saying:
"Brad has one more year where Vivienne and Knox are mandated to spend time with him. It’s a pivotal moment. He knows time is running out and this may be his last real chance to rebuild a connection before they graduate and head off to college and their own lives, so he’s going to go all out to get as much one- on-one time with them as he can. He’s aiming to be in L.A. way more so he can focus on them"
Over the years, reports reveal that The Fight Club star hasn't always shared the best of relationships with his children, and it remains to be seen if Brad Pitt's current efforts to repair his relationship with his twins will be fruitful.
