CEO of Revolt Detavio Samuel has set the record straight about rumors that Dame Dash is the new chairman of the company.
Vibe reported yesterday, September 16, that the 54-year-old was appointed "effective immediately," and was expected to bring in content from his own platform, AmericaNu Network. He was also expected to host and simulcast 25 episodes of his Bosses Take Losses podcast.
However, The Shade Room has since shared an email from Samuel to his employees confirming that he still retains his position:
"Yes, we've been in conversations about potential partnerships, things like licensing his shows and films for REVOLT. But there is no signed deal. He is not the chairman of our company. There is no acquisition path on the table. The quote from VIBE is completely fabricated. I never said any of that."
The chairman further confirmed that if anything "major" were happening, his organization would have been privy to it straight from him.
The drama between Dame Dash, Charlamagne Tha God, and Loren LaRosa explored:
During a recent The Breakfast Club interview, Dame Dash claimed he was Revolt's chairman, adding that his network had joined forces with the other and was "on the pathway to acquisition.”
However, Charlamagne Tha God slammed him for being a "liar" and questioned the news.
“How do we know that’s not cap?” he questioned.
He also pointed out that if the news were official, it would have been reported on by several notable organisations like Deadline. However, Dash quickly fired back in a scathing post on Instagram:
"Charlamagne, I would advise you not to make up phony sources without real names saying that anything I said was not true, or we will have a legal problem. Don't try to compromise my reputation. I have proof to support everything I say that will stand up in any court," he penned.
The conflict intensified when Revolt host Loren LaRosa also took to X to echo the statement that Dame Dash does not hold any official position in her company:
"Dame Dash is not the chairman of the network."
The artist shot back once again, per Vibe:
"Here goes the bullshit, I'm the chairman for the month. If I acquire I will be official chairman. Please stop playing with words. Just take that L."
In the original article from Vibe, Detavio Samuels's "fabricated" quote reads as follows:
"As the CEO of a media company dedicated to Hip Hop culture and the diverse creators and consumers who drive it, it made sense to do business with Dame. After 30 years, he continues to be a driving force in hip hop and pop culture, and people want to hear what he has to say no matter how they feel about it."
