Film producer Elon Dershowitz, who is the son of defense attorney Alan Dershowitz, passed away last week on August 17. According to The Jerusalem Post, Dershowitz, who was not married and had no children at the time of his death, suffered a stroke on Sunday.

Dershowitz is now being privately mourned by his family members, who have organized a funeral service for him on Tuesday, August 19, in New York. According to The Jerusalem Post, Elon Dershowitz had donated his organs before his death, ensuring they would be given to someone in need.

Elon Dershowitz was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on June 23, 1961, to parents Alan Dershowitz and Sue Barlach. According to The New Yorker, the couple met as children at a Jewish summer camp and later got married in 1959, soon after graduating from high school. They later welcomed two sons during the course of their marriage. They were married for fourteen years until their separation in 1973 and eventual divorce in 1976. Sue Barlach was initially awarded the sole custody of the couple's two children, but the custody rights were later transferred to Alan Dershowitz.

When Elon Dershowitz was just ten years old, he was diagnosed with a tumor. Although he later recovered with the proper treatment, it period was a difficult time for the entire Dershowitz family. In his book "Taking the Stand: My Life in the Law," which was published in 1983, Alan Dershowitz wrote about the painful period in his life and said:

"I couldn't concentrate on my book. My marriage, which has been suffering for many years before our trip to California was no in deep trouble."

In 1983, when Dershowitz was just twenty-two years old, his mother, who worked as a research librarian at the International Ladies Garment Workers' Union, died in an apparent suicide after jumping from the Brooklyn Bridge.

Elon Dershowitz attended Hampshire College before pursuing a career in Hollywood. He has produced several movies over his decades-long career. According to his IMDB profile, his film credits include, "Wall Street," "Fallen," "Martians Go Home," "Talk Radio," "Dream Lover," "The Devil's Advocate," "Reversal of Fortune," a film that was nominated for three Academy Awards, and earned Jeremy Irons his first Oscar for the Best Actor in 1990.

Elon Dershowitz, who was sixty-four years old at the time of his passing, is survived by his father, Alan Dershowitz, and his second wife, Carolyn Cohen, to whom Alan had been married since 1986. In addition to his father and stepmother, the "Whole Truth" movie producer is also survived by his extended family, which includes his sister Ella and her husband, as well as his brother Jamin, his wife, and children.
