Erin Spohr's sister, Adrienne, is breaking her silence on her brother-in-law Daniel Serafini murdering her parents.
Per The Daily Mail, the former MLB player, 51, was convicted last month of gunning down Gary Spohr and attempting to murder his mother-in-law, Wendy Wood. The former Minnesota Twins pitcher broke into his parents-in-law's house in 2021 and opened fire on Gary first before firing at Wood, 69. The latter was left with brain damage and committed suicide in 2023 at an assisted-living facility.
SF Gate has reported that as of last month, Erin Spohr was still married to Daniel Serafini. She reportedly sided with him throughout the trial, despite his affair, and testified that she didn't think he was the one who attacked her parents. Prosecutors have alleged that he targeted them for their $23 million fortune.
During the trial, Spohr said that she and her husband were in an open marriage, and that when he wasn't working, he abused cocaine and partied with other women. She also said that she had been “cut off” by her mother several times since she turned 18, but that she and Serafini still got monthly cheques from her parents.
During another day in court, she reiterated that her husband was not the one who attacked her parents, despite the prosecution bringing up emails where Daniel Serafini allegedly threatened Gary Spohr.

In a new interview with People Magazine, Adrienne Spohr opened up about her mother's mental health after her father died, and how she came to take her own life:
In the next weeks following the incident, “she relearned how to walk and write and even went hiking,” the 35-year-old told the outlet. “She was amazing.” However, she continued to struggle with depression and anxiety. “The heartbreak of losing my dad — and knowing who was responsible [for his death] — became too much,” Adrienne said. “She said it felt like she had lost her right arm.”
Per the outlet, Daniel Serafini and his mistress, Samantha Scott, were charged with the murder of Gary and the attempted murder of Wendy. Prosecutors alleged that Serafini was driven by the $14 million he lost on bad investments, and that he relied on the Spohrs for money, despite once calling them “wealthy pieces of s---."
Scott eventually testified against Serafini in a bid to score a lesser accessory charge. She swore she drove him to and fro Lake Tahoe on the day of the attacks, and that she witnessed him test the gun he was going to use beforehand. Video surveillance also showed a man sporting a hood and a backpack, walking into the Spohrs' home, just before the homicide.
Further evidence indicated that the former pitcher was hiding at the home for about three hours before the attack. Daniel Serafini's sentencing has since been set for August 18.
