Former American mixed martial artist and actress, Gina Carano, in a latest update, has settled her lawsuit, which she filed against Disney and Lucasfilm after she was fired from the space western action drama series, The Mandalorian. The 43-year-old Carano, who was fired from the Star Wars franchise spin-off show in 2021, filed the lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm in 2024 after receiving support and financial backing from tech tycoon and multi-billionaire Elon Musk.

Gina Carano, a former professional mixed martial artist who competed in Strikeforce and Elite Extreme Combat from 2006 to 2009, eventually shifted to movies and television, landing her first acting role in Steven Soderbergh's action thriller film Haywire, alongside Michael Douglas, Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, and others.

In The Blood star Gina Carano, who played the vital role of Cara Dune in The Mandalorian, a Disney+ original series, was removed from the cast because of her comments, in which she made a comparison between being a Republican in America to being a Jewish person during WW2's Holocaust. The MMA fighter turned actress broke the news of her settlement with Disney, which is undisclosed and was not made public, on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

"I hope this brings some healing to the force."

She went ahead and called the settlement as the:

"Best outcome for all parties involved," adding she was "excited to flip the page and move onto the next chapter."

Carano also took the opportunity to thank Elon Musk and expressed her appreciation for how he helped her with the lawsuit. She wrote:

"Good Samaritan deed for me in funding my lawsuit."

She concluded her post by writing:

"Yes, I'm smiling."

The primary reason behind Gina Carano filing the lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm was wrongful termination and s*xual discrimination. Lucasfilm criticized her 2021 comments for:

"Denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities."

However, after the settlement, Lucasfilm, in a statement, said:

That it looks forward to "identifying opportunities to work together".

The statement also described Carano as:

Someone who "was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff. She worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect".
