Yes, Henry Cavill is injured. As per Deadline, the English actor sustained an unspecified injury while he was training for his new project, the Highlander remake. The film is Amazon MGM Studios' remake of the 1986 fantasy-adventure film starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery.

Cavill's injury has delayed production and shooting, which will instead begin in 2026. Cavill was cast to play the protagonist.

What has Henry Cavill said about working on his new project Highlander remake?

Henry Cavill, in a July 2025 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, said that the Highlander remake is taking all of his "focus."

"That is taking all my focus. It's a project that I'm extremely excited about. This character is going to be a lot of fun to play, and I'm loving working with Chad Stahleski. He is a very talented man."

Highlander is directed by John Wick and is by filmmaker Chad Stahelski.

In May 2019, Stahelski, while speaking with Entertainment Weekly, said that he had high hopes about the project,

"Highlander is such a massive property. Luckily, the studio (Lionsgate) is really behind me in this. I truly believe this is one of those properties that could actually sustain a good universe, meaning a TV show or something. And to go out there, and just haphazardly throw togetherwhat we think would be a quick sword fighting-immortal movie, I think woiuld be a mistake."

He also added,

"And honestly, the people behind this, the studio behind this, they're dying for this to go. If anything, I'm the one holding it back, and trying to creatively lay out everything."

Cavill had earlier teased the film at CinemaCon in 2024, noting that he and his fellow filmmakers were "going deep into these characters." While talking about his work on fantasy-action series The Witcher, Cavill had said,

"If you thought you'd seen me do sword work before, you haven't seen anything yet."

Cavill is also gearing up for other projects, including Enola Holmes 3, directed by Philip Barantini, best known for directing the one-shot crime drama, Boiling Point, Rawson Marshall Thurber's Voltron, and Guy Ritchie's In the Grey.

Both Henry Cavill and the people working on the Highlander remake have yet to comment on Cavill's injury and give an update on the production. However, as per Deadline, production for the film, which was set to begin in September 2025, will now be pushed to 2026. Cavill has yet to address whether his injury will affect the production of his other upcoming projects.
