Wrestling commentator Jim Ross, signed to All Elite Wrestling, recently underwent surgery following his colon cancer diagnosis. On the July 3 episode of the Grilling JR with Jim Ross podcast, he said that the last few months had been uplifting for him and he was glad to see people care for his health. Mentioning that he was cancer-free, Ross said:

“My health’s good. I am cancer-free. I am feeling good. I had a little booking conflict, that was my fault. I was supposed to go to Knoxville to the Fanboy Expo, which is not going to happen simply because I will be in Texas and you know, it’s like Murphy’s law, man. Anything that can’t happen, screwed up is what’s happening.”

He added:

“I wanted to be in Knoxville. I look forward to being at the Fanboy Expo. It’s just not going to happen but we will make up for it somewhere down the road, no doubt about that. But I am back doing appearances.”

Ross said he was doing well but needed help with his work since he didn’t have an assistant. The co-host asked if Jim would be at AEW's first stadium show in America, to which Jim said yes. He explained that he had mixed up the dates before, but confirmed.

What was the scariest part of Jim Ross’s cancer journey?

As the podcast rolled on, an X user named Erik Turner posted his question for Jim Ross, asking about the toughest part of the cancer treatment. He said the scariest part was dealing with fear, especially worrying about whether the treatment was working.

Ross shared that he had good doctors in Jacksonville, which helped a lot. He felt lucky to have gotten through the toughest part. Jim said he was happy with how his health turned out and believed it was important to stay positive and keep going, even on tough days when he wasn’t sure everything would be okay.

Jim Ross announced his cancer diagnosis through an X post on May 15, 2025. He wrote:

“Diagnosed this week with colon cancer. Surgery being scheduled in the next week or two. I appreciate your concern and support.”

However, on May 29, 2025, he shared another post, updating about his surgery. Ross wrote:

“Happy to say that today’s cancer surgery was a success. Now we be begin to rehabilitate.”

This was followed by another post where he wrote he was discharged, mentioning:

“Made it home from the hospital but feeling rugged. Need to kick out. I’m trying.”

All Elite Wrestling shared a message, sharing their good wishes and support for Ross in his cancer journey. They said Jim was an important part of their team and would support him during his recovery.

In 2021, Jim Ross was diagnosed with skin cancer, following which he had to undergo radiation therapy. The same year in December, he shared that he was cancer-free. According to Variety, in 2024, Ross had to undergo hip surgery, which was also related to cancer.
