American actor and musician Joseph David Keery, commonly known as Joe Keery and Djo, his stage name, is currently making headlines and is the talk of the town following his and Sabrina Carpenter's arrest video at ACL Fest, which has gone viral.
The 33-year-old Joe Keery, who gained prominence after starring as Steve Harrington in the immensely popular Netflix TV series Stranger Things, recently became part of the Espresso hitmaker Carpenter's "cuffing season" bit during her ACL (Austin City Limits) 2025 set on Saturday, October 4.
While Joe Keery and Sabrina Carpenter's arrest video goes viral on various social media platforms, netizens became curious whether the Stranger Things star is still in a relationship with actress Maika Monroe. Keery, who is starring alongside Georgina Campbell, Liam Neeson, and Leslie Manville in Johnny Campbell's upcoming horror comedy film, which is scheduled to be released on February 6, 2026, was in a five-year relationship with Monroe before splitting up some time between 2022 and 2023, as per People.
While Keery and Monroe are no longer together, Keery, in an interview with GQ, opened up about his breakup with Monroe, shedding light on how he dealt with it and the timeline of the breakup. Keery, who first came across Monroe during the production of the rom-com film After Everything, released in 2018, said that they "spent so much time together" over quarantine, which was a rare thing for couples in the industry. He added:
"I mean, that's one of the disadvantages of dating someone else in the industry. There are advantages as well: somebody who kind of understands what's going on with you in a pretty deep way."
Keery went ahead and said:
"But yeah, I think she's like me. She doesn't take it all too seriously."
Joe Keery and Sabrina Carpenter's ACL Fest arrest video goes viral

The Please Please Please singer's light-hearted "cuffing" segment first began during her Short n' Sweet music tour in 2024.
During the playful segment, Sabrina "arrests" special guests, typically a popular actor or musician, before she goes on to perform her song, Juno. While renowned personalities such as Millie Bobby Brown, members of the South Korean girl group TWICE, and Ayo Edebiri have already been a part of the "cuffing" segment, this time it was Joe Keery's turn.
Keery's ACL Fest "arrest" was seen in a video posted by a fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) in which Sabrina asks Joe his name and where he is from. When Keery responds by saying "Boston", Carpenter jokingly says that it "sounds a lot like Austin". Sabrina then goes on to say:
"Joe, it’s actually cuffing season. I don’t know if you know that."
While Keery gets cuffed, Carpenter laughingly says:
"You seem very eager actually. This is so rare. You’re the one. We did it, Joe."
