Duane "Keefe D" Davis, the sole suspect charged in the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur, is reportedly facing new trouble behind bars. According to recent sources, Keefe was allegedly involved in a prison altercation, raising concerns about possible additional charges and legal repercussions.

After an alleged violent incident at the Clark County Detention Center, Keefe D has reportedly been charged by Las Vegas authorities with violence by a prisoner. Correctional authorities allegedly intervened when the 61-year-old, who is presently awaiting trial for his suspected role in Tupac Shakur's 1996 murder, got into a violent altercation with another prisoner.

Arrested two years ago in the month of September 2023, Keefe D is still being held before the start of his much-awaited murder trial in March 2025. He entered a not-guilty plea to the accusations.

According to the court documents acquired by ABC News, a new bond of $50,000 has been issued for the assault accusation, but his initial $750,000 bail for the murder case remains unchanged.

On January 23, Keefe D and another prisoner at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas allegedly engaged in what the officials called "mutual combat." Both guys grappled and traded closed-fist blows, and Keefe D also allegedly put the other prisoner in a headlock during the brawl.

Only when a prison officer used pepper spray to break up the altercation did the two guys stop fighting. Following the incident, Keefe D allegedly told the police that he was "just standing his ground."

Keefe D has been officially charged with violence by a prisoner after the incident, which might affect his legal status while he awaits trial for Shakur's murder.

An important development in reportedly one of hip-hop's most intriguing mysteries has been the indictment of Duane "Keefe D" Davis, the alleged final surviving suspect in the 1996 drive-by shooting of Tupac Shakur.

Authorities say Davis allegedly planned the assault and provided the gun used in the shooting, even though he is not charged with firing the shot. Davis allegedly acknowledged this participation in interviews and also in Compton Street Legend where he described his involvement.

After Davis' public remarks rekindled interest in the case, the investigation, which had been stalled for a long time, reportedly picked up speed. In July 2023, police reportedly raided his house and found laptops, a cell phone, .40 caliber bullets, and his memoir, among other items.

On the evening of September 7, 1996, Tupac was in a BMW driven by Suge Knight, a co-founder of Death Row Records, when reportedly a white Cadillac drew up next to them and started shooting. The 25-year-old rapper was hit multiple times and died after succumbing to his wounds a week later.

The fatal shooting, according to authorities, was a direct reprisal after Tupac and Davis' nephew, Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, allegedly got into a fight in a casino. Anderson was allegedly suspected early on but was never convicted until his death in 1998.

Las Vegas made the case's first arrest in September 2023, reportedly while Davis was out for a morning walk near his house. The grand jury publicly announced Davis' indictment on one count of murder with a deadly weapon, with additional sentencing for his gang activities that might expand it to 20 years if convicted.

With a no-guilty plea and no known attorney, Davis, aged 60, is still reportedly being held at the Clark County Detention Center for trial in March 2025.

Keefe D's Fight for Freedom: Court Cases and Increasing Difficulties

Keefe D's defense team has reportedly attempted to get the charges dropped, claiming that there is no concrete proof other than his own words and an immunity agreement shielded his prior confessions.

This was recently reportedly dismissed by a judge in Las Vegas, enabling the case to go to trial. Prosecutors reportedly hope to win a conviction in the almost three-decade-old murder case of Tupac, claiming that he was not the shooter and that his previous statements were exaggerated for his own benefit.
