Mark Ruffalo in talks to star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Recently, it's been reported that Mark Ruffalo is currently in talks to return as the Incredible Hulk in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, it is unclear whether it will be a full-fledged role or a cameo appearance. Besides Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal is also reprising his role as The Punisher in the film.

The film is helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton, while the script is written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing the film under the banners of Marvel Studios, Pascal Pictures, and Columbia Pictures.

Here is a list of its cast members:

  • Tom Holland as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man
  • Zendaya as Michelle Jones-Watson aka MJ
  • Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds
  • Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle aka Punisher
  • Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner aka Hulk
  • Michael Mando as Mac Gargan aka Scorpion
  • Sadie Sink
  • Liza Colón-Zayas

For the longest time, Holland stated that there might not be another film in the franchise. However, things changed after the 2023 Hollywood actor-writers' strike ended. In November, that same year, the actor revealed that the talks for the film were taking place.

Meanwhile, Ruffalo has portrayed the role of Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk, in several films and shows from the MCU. These include Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, Thor: Ragnarok, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Avengers: Endgame, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

The MCU is also seeing a resurgence and has several films in the pipeline, including Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, among others. The former will feature Robert Downey Jr. portraying the role of Doctor Doom.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026.
