While Megan Thee Stallion is not directly involved in a new legal row against Roc Nation, two models that appear in promotional images for Meghan Thee Stallion's Hot Girl Summer swimwear line are suing Jay-Z's company for using their photos without permission.

As per legal documents obtained by Billboard, Jay-Z's company, Roc Nation, used two New-York based models, Janelle Delacruz and Tonoia Wade's images for billboard ads without permission. The models filed separate but nearly identical lawsuits on December 16.

The models claimed they were hired for an April photoshoot by Roc Nation for the swimwear line, which launched in May. They were paid $5,000 and $8,700 respectively, plus agency fees. However, their contracts allegedly only allowed their photos to be used in social media advertising. Later, their images were used in billboard ads in Los Angeles and three other U.S. cities, thereby exceeding the scope outlined in the contract. Both the lawsuits stated,

"Roc Nation had a limited license to use plaintiff's likeness from the April 30, 2025 photoshoot. Defendent knew that it did not have plaintiff's consent and did not make any attempt to notify plaintiff that plaintiff's likeness would be used without plaintiff's consent."

The models are seeking unspecified damages for breach of contract, misappropriation of likeness, and false advertising.

How is Megan Thee Stallion associated with Roc Nation?

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion signed a management deal with Jay-Z founded Roc Nation in 2019. In September, 2019, Meghan Thee Stallion posted news of the deal on Instagram alongside a picture of her with Jay-Z, saying,

"I would like to announce that I am officially apart of the @rocnation fam. The grind don't stop! #realhotgirls**t."

The rapper has previously opened up about how it is working with Jay-Z and Roc Nation and how they have made her feel protected in her career. While speaking to a July episode of Club Shay Shay, Meghan Thee Stallion while speaking to Shannon Sharpe said,

"Never did I ever think that I was actually going to be managed by the people that I looked up to. It just feel like a big family. They're just so intelligent - they been through everything. They still going through it right now. But they just know how to carry it. I'm learning from the best. I feel like I'm in the right spot, I'm in the right position."

Meghan Thee Stallion is not mentioned as a defendent or accused of wrongdoing in the lawsuit filed by the models.
