Neil Young is doubling down on his hatred for Donald Trump as the latter called out Bruce Springsteen and other musicians earlier this week.
In a pointed post on the Neil Young Archives, the musician voiced his support for the fellow musician and accused Trump of destroying the nation. For the unversed, Neil Young is a Canadian-born Rock and Roll Hall of Famer who acquired his U.S. citizenship back in January 2020.
At the time, he revealed in a post on Instagram that his quest to achieve the same was delayed due to his "use of marijuana." Young has been living in the U.S. since the 1960s, when he shifted to LA to pursue his career. He now has dual Canadian-American citizenship.

In his blog, Neil Young penned:
“Bruce and thousands of musicians think you are ruining America. You worry about that instead of the dyin’ kids in Gaza." He added, “That’s your problem. I am not scared of you. Neither are the rest of us. You shut down FEMA when we needed it most. That’s your problem Trump. STOP THINKING ABOUT WHAT ROCKERS ARE SAYING. Think about saving America from the mess you made.”
Last week, Trump slammed Springsteen after the latter repeatedly called out the Trump administration during one of his recent concerts in the UK:
“The America I’ve written about, and has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration,” Springsteen said.
Trump hit back on May 16 on social media, when he penned:
“KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just ‘standard fare.’ Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
Neil Young also referenced Taylor Swift's vocal criticism of the current administration, as he penned:
“Taylor Swift is right. So is Bruce. You know how I feel." The longtime Trump critic went on, “You are more worried about yourself than AMERICA. Wake up Trump!!" In another part, he continued, “You are forgetting your real job. You work for us. Wake up Republicans! This guy is out of control. We need a real president!”
This past April, Neil Young expressed concern that he might be barred from re-entering the US after his European tour later this year, after voicing a string of criticisms against the president.
“When I go to play music in Europe, if I talk about Donald J Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminium blanket,” Young wrote in his blog at the time. “That is happening all the time now. Countries have new advice for those returning to America.”
Young is expected to hit the road in Europe this June and July, after which he will come back to the US in August.
“If I come back from Europe and am barred, can’t play my USA tour, all of the folks who bought tickets will not be able to come to a concert by me,” he wrote. “That’s right folks. If you say anything bad about Trump or his administration, you may be barred from re-entering USA if you are Canadian. If you are a dual citizen like me, who knows? We’ll all find that out together.”
Neil Young has long been against Trump. Back in 2015, as reported by The Guardian, he claimed the president, who was then in the running for the same, was "not authorised” to use his song, Rockin’ In the Free World, during one of his campaigns, and sued him for the same.
