Rachel Frederickson is opening up about the backlash she was subjected to after being crowned the winner of season 15 of “The Biggest Loser” in February.
The voiceover artist, 24, initially lost 155 pounds, going from 260 lbs to 105 lbs, only to be met with criticism from her fans, who thought she looked "unhealthy," according to CNN. She has since gained some of the weight back, and in the wake of Netflix's three-part documentary titled Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser, fans are redirecting their attention to her.
Now 35 years old, it remains unclear if the reality star is married, though her socials have no mention of her husband. Instead, Dexerto has also reported that she lives in her hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota, where she works as an analytics manager for an agricultural company.
As for her Instagram, her account is private. She will not be making a comeback onscreen for the forthcoming Netflix documentary.
Here's everything Rachel Frederickson has been up to in recent months:
Following the wave of scrutiny she was subjected to, which included one journalist reportedly referring to her body as "emaciated," Rachel Frederickson penned an essay for Today's 2014 Voices section. She admitted that the negative comments hurt her, but she has since gained 20 lbs and is now focusing on balance.
“There will always be other voices in life,” she wrote. “The trouble comes when you stop listening to your own." She added, “I found strength in this struggle."
She continued,
“Comments during the controversial storm following my weight loss were hurtful. My self-esteem once again was affected by other people’s voices – this time, the kind that live forever in Facebook posts or written in the pages of magazines. People tried to bring me down and (privately) succeeded.”
According to StyleCaster, back in 2015, during the finale of the NBC weight loss competition, Rachel Frederickson shocked fans and coaches Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels alike with her transformation. By the end of the show, her BMI was around 18, which meant that she lost 56.2% of her body weight. She was also the only contender to ever finish the show underweight.
“When I stood on stage at the live finale, I had never felt stronger,” she said, according to the outlet. "I had accomplished everything I wanted to do. I was extremely proud of myself.”
As reported by Nicki Swift in March 2023, during an interview at the finale of the show, Rachel Frederickson looked back on shedding her pounds and regaining control of her life:
"I feel so wonderful. I mean it's been — what a life-changing opportunity, a once-in-a-lifetime to get the second chance back and I've taken hold of it, I've run with it, and you know I'm taking charge of my life and it just means the world."
