Former football player and podcaster Shannon Sharpe has announced the postponement of his Nightcap NSFW tour 2025. The tour, along with Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, was initially fixed to begin on June 13, 2025, in Baltimore.
As per the latest updates, the tour is unlikely to begin before 2026. Announcing the news on the podcast, Sharpe said:
“We’ve decided to postpone the Nightcap tour. We look forward to seeing you guys in the summer of 2026…But Ocho and I have come to the conclusion that this is the best thing as of right now.”
The postponement comes amidst Sharpe’s s*xual assault lawsuit worth $50 million. Filed by Jane Doe in April 2025, the lawsuit accuses Shannon Sharpe of battery, assault, and r*pe.
She also alleged that Sharpe recorded their private moments without seeking her permission. Sharpe denied all the claims, and his lawyer criticized the lawsuit, calling it dishonest and an attempt to extort money.
According to The US Sun, Jane Doe and Sharpe met in 2023 at a gym, and their relationship began consensually. However, she alleged that he manipulated her, and there were instances of violent attacks. Meanwhile, on April 25, 2025, Shannon Sharpe stated on Instagram, writing:
"My statement is found here and this is the truth. The relationship in question was 100% consensual. At this juncture I am electing to step aside temporarily from my ESPN duties. I will be devoting this time to my family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me."
He added:
"I plan to return to ESPN at the start of the NFL preseason. I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming and ongoing support I have received from my family, fans, friends and colleagues."
What did Shannon Sharpe’s lawyers and legal team say about the lawsuit?
Days after Jane Doe filed the $50 million lawsuit, Shannon Sharpe reportedly offered $10 million to come to a settlement, according to his lawyer. Moreover, his legal team also shared conversations between him and Jane Doe.
They showed that the relationship was mutual and involved adult, consensual behavior. They said many of the messages were initiated by her and included detailed intimacy requests, suggesting the two shared a relationship based on role-play and fantasies that she had specifically asked for.
Addressing the lawsuit, Shannon Sharpe also said:
“This is a shakedown. I’m going to be open, transparent and defend myself because this isn’t right. This is all being orchestrated by Tony Buzbee.”
Buzbee released a statement, saying:
“I look forward to presenting the evidence in this case through the judicial process, where the truth matters more than a sports icon’s desperate public spin.”
Sharpe’s lawyers said the texts were only a small part of many similar messages that showed the relationship was consensual.
Shannon Sharpe also released a video where he responded to the accusations, saying he planned to fight back and claimed he was being targeted in an attempt to extort him for fifty million dollars.
He said he would sue for defamation and promised to continue speaking openly, as he had always done, while thanking his supporters.
