Actress Sofia Vergara, popular for her role in the sitcom Modern Family, is currently single as per her own admission. The 51-year-old actress has referenced her status as a single woman during numerous media appearances this year.

Vergara’s relationship status has been the subject of media scrutiny ever since she revealed that she was single in an interview with US Weekly in October last year.

Vergara had previously been dating orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman. While the actress did not make any official statement about her break-up and did not hint when she split up with Saliman, her own revelation about being single pointed towards the fact that her romance with the orthopedic surgeon had ended.

Apart from media scrutiny on Sofia Vergara’s relationship status, the fact that she is single has been the subject of jokes made by Howie Mandel during the reality show America’s Got Talent. Mandel, while appearing as the judge for the reality show, has often teased his fellow judge Sofia Vergara about her dating life.

While Mandel’s comments in the past have earned him negative backlash on the internet, it seems to have had no impact on his habit of poking fun at and pulling attention towards Vergara’s relationship status.

During the June 17 episode of America’s Got Talent, when Vergara pointed out the unique chemistry displayed by a particular pair during the audition, and further interrogated about the duo’s dating history, Mandel was quick to intervene. He quipped,

“She’s asking because she’s single now, too”

Sofia Vergara responded with a laugh. While she did not confirm that Mandel’s comments reflected the truth about her relationship status, Vergera did not deny that she was single either.

When Sofia Vergara appeared for her exclusive interview with US Weekly in October last year, there was intense speculation about the status of her relationship with Justin Saliman. Vergara did not name Saliman during the interview, and she did not make any reference to her relationship with him.

However, when she asked about the general experience of dating in New York, Vergara iterated that New York City was “the best place to date,” and said,

“Actually, I was talking yesterday about it because now I’m single so…kind of single”

A few months after her interview with US Weekly, Vergara, during her appearance at the Golden Globes Awards ceremony in January, revealed that she was still single.

While interacting with Access Hollywood during the awards ceremony held on January 5, Vergara shared her goals for the year ahead with the media outlet. Vergara while revealing the list of areas that she would want to focus on, said,

“Well usually of course health, money…a boyfriend”

Vergara went on to reiterate her single status again during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, in late January. During the talk show, Vergara revealed that being single adds to her experience of New York City. Vergara noted,

“I'm single now, so in New York there are more people. There's not only actors or writers or directors, I think there's a bigger [pool]. I'm going to spend more time in New York.”

Vergara also revealed that New York City boasts of great cuisines as well, a fact that adds to the dating experience according to her.
