No, Taylor Swift is not dropping a new single called Sound in August. On July 19, Pop Base, a parody account, shared a post noting that the pop star is all set to release her new single, Sound, on August 27th. However, this is just a rumor, and the artist has not announced anything about a track by this title on her social media platforms or on the official website, which is what she usually does.
Pop Base, the account that initially shared the post, notes in its bio that it's "your fakest source of information." While Swift is yet to confirm release dates or titles for any new potential releases, it was earlier confirmed that the artist has already begun working on a new album.

Is Taylor Swift working on new music?
Taylor Swift is allegedly working on new music. In an April 2025 interview originally posted by Universal Music Sweden, Jacob Criborn, one half of the production duo Nause, casually revealed that he's been working with Swift on a new project. Criborn, while discussing recent collaborations in Sweden, revealed
"We're just funishing Taylor Swift's album."
It is unclear if Criborn was referring to a full-length collection of brand-new songs or if he is contributing to Swift's re-releases. Swift's boyfriend, and American football player, Travis Kelce, in January 2025, also hinted at new music.
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Kelce was asked by sports analyst Pat McAfee if the singer is working on more love songs, to which Kelce replied,
"There might be a few. I don't know. There might be a few."
When McAfee probed further, Kelce replied,
"You know I can't say any of that...I hear music everywhere."
McAfee also asked Kelce if she was the "motivator" for Swift's creativity in music, to which he replied,
"Oh, come on, you know it! I'll never chime in, but you already know, I'm here to support it. I'm here to see where it can go."
On July 15, Hits Daily Double published an article about Swift's probably new album. However, the outlet raised fan concern after it edited a particular line from the article and removed Taylor Swift's name. A line in the article initially read,
"What's more, seismic rumblings of a new Taylor set keep the Republic team as aggressive as ever."
Which was changed into, "And there's always Taylor."
The edit didn't go unnoticed, and fans took to social media platforms to investigate.
