During an interview with BBC Radio 2's Scott Mills on October 6, Taylor Swift revealed that she has no interest in space travel, following Katy Perry's trip to space.

When asked if she would ever go to space, Taylor Swift responded with,

"Why would I do that? There's no reason to do that. I don't want to do that, ever. I never...Oh my God, no! I don't want to know. I don't. I can't. I don't. No."

She also added,

"It's cold, it's scary, I don't know if I can come back. If I go, no one will believe I went. It doesn't matter if you go, because everyone thinks you didn't go, or they have a weird take on it. I have no fascination."

This question arises in light of another pop star, Katy Perry, making such a trip with Gayle King, Lauren Sanchez, Aisha Bowe, Kerianne Flynn, and Amanda Nguyen.

"It was like I thought you were going to make me go": Taylor Swift reacts to going to space question

Taylor Swift, after noting that she would never go to space, thanked Mills for asking the question and said,

"Thanks for asking because I don't know why I just completely freaked out by that. It was like I thought you were going to make me go."

Scott Mills' question comes after Taylor Swift's former nemesis Katy Perry embarked on a trip to space with 5 other notable female figures. The group embarked on an all-female flight to space that lasted for 11 minutes in April 2025. Perry's trip to space was criticized by notable figures for its alleged environmental impact.

Actress Olivia Munn, during an April 3 episode of Today with Jenna and Friends, said,

"What's the point? Is it historic that you guys are going on a ride? I think it's a bit gluttonous. Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind. What are they gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here."

Other celebrities such as Olivia Wilde, Emily Ratajkowski, Amy Schumer, and more also criticized the space trip. Oscar-winning actress Jessica Chastain, while criticizing the trip on April 17 in a tweet, shared an op-ed from The Guardian saying,

"The Blue Origin flight showcased the utter defeat of American feminism."

As per Sustainability Magazine, Perry's spaceflight had an impact on the environment since "combustion emissions from rocket launches affect both the climate and stratospheric ozone layer." However, Jeff Bezos claimed that the flight had little to no environmental impact since it had no carbon emissions.
