Star Wars is a franchise that has been ongoing for several decades. The epic space opera began with George Lucas' 1977 release A New Hope. Since then, we have seen several films and television shows coming out of the series, including The Mandalorian and The Rise of Skywalker, among others.
Lucasfilm is currently working on a new project and is looking for new faces to cast. Recently, it's been reported that they have approached The Last of Us fame Bella Ramsey for a role. Let's find out more about this piece of news that might excite the fans.
Bella Ramsey is in talks to appear in Star Wars
IGN has reported that Lucasfilm is considering casting Bella Ramsey for the forthcoming Star Wars film. This reportage originated via a tweet by an on X (earlier Twitter) account called MyTimeToShineHello. No further details about this news are available regarding the role or the project. It's still a rumor, and so fans will have to wait for an official confirmation.
Ramsey started her career in 2017 with a short film and has appeared in several films, including Judy and Holmes & Watson. She is known for playing Lyanna Mormont in HBO's Game of Thrones. She continued to appear in the last three seasons. Ramsey is currently playing the protagonist, Ellie, in the horror action series The Last of Us.
There are several Star Wars projects in different stages of production currently. So it is not yet clear if the above-mentioned rumor is about a film or a show. Over the years, the franchise has amassed a strong fan following, especially for the original trilogy by George Lucas.
The upcoming projects in the franchise include Visions Season 3, The Mandalorian & Grogu, Dawn of the Jedi, Maul: Shadow Lord, Ahsoka Season 2, and Star Wars: Starfighter, along with untitled projects of Taika Waititi, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
Ryan Gosling and Matt Smith are starring in Starfighter. The news was first announced in April this year. At Tokyo's Celebration event, Gosling said:
"The reality is that this script is just so good. It has such a great story with great and original characters. It's filled with so much heart and adventure, and there just really is not a more perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn. You can see from the picture, I guess I was probably dreaming about Star Wars before I even saw the film and it's probably framed my idea of what a movie even was."
The sequel trilogy concluded with 2019's The Rise of Skywalker, and since then, no feature film has come out of the franchise. Ramsey has proven her mettle as a performer in films and the television. So it would be relatively easy for her to blend into the world of the space opera.
