Wunmi Mosaku, the actress who got the spotlight for her splendid work in Loki and Sinners, recently made headlines after her attendance at the Golden Globes red carpet. The Nigerian-British actress surprised her fans by revealing her pregnancy at the Los Angeles event on Sunday. As per a report shared by the Daily Mail, this would be Wunmi Mosaku's second child.

Mosaku, who wore a sweeping yellow gown for the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards, is famous for keeping her personal life out of the spotlight. As per a report shared by Nicki Swift, the Lovecraft Country actress is married but hasn't shared much about her husband. That being said, during an interview with Soho House, she did reveal that her better half works in the entertainment industry behind the scenes.

Wunmi Mosaku has been intentionally private about her private life throughout her career, as her husband hasn't featured on her social media accounts, and remains publicly unnamed till date. However, she did reveal in 2021 that the pandemic played a huge role in her marriage. As per a report shared by Schön!, Wunmi Mosaku reflected on her marriage, sharing that if it wasn't for the pandemic

"I definitely wouldn't have gone on a date with an American that I ended up marrying, it's the best thing that ever happened."

Wunmi Mosaku opened up about her second pregnancy in an interview with Vogue. She shares a reason for leading a private life.

"In my Nigerian culture, we don’t really announce this kind of news. It’s meant to be protected. Everything in me resists sharing it publicly, not because I’m not grateful or joyful, but because this feels like one of the few things that truly belongs to me," shared Mosaku.

She appreciates the outpour of love after the success of Sinners and reflects on the advice she received regarding her pregnancy.

"The success of Sinners, a project that has gifted me with more than I could imagine. I’ll be in the public eye for the coming weeks [during awards season] as we excitedly take our seats amongst our peers, and I will be doing it with an ever-growing bump. I’ve been advised to get ahead of speculation and questions. Keen eyes mean speculation has already begun. Is she pregnant? Has she gained weight? What’s with the outfit?"

Mosaku then adds,

"So, I've decided to stop trying to camouflage my bump today at the Golden Globes, so me and baby can truly enjoy and embrace the moment fully together."

The actress also shares the meaning of her yellow gown, worn at the Golden Globes red carpet.

"In Yoruba, we say Iya ni Wúrà which means “mother is golden,” so when I saw sketches of this beautiful custom yellow Matthew Reisman, I knew it was the right dress and the right moment," she explained.

As per a report shared by Essence, Wunmi Mosaku had previously surprised her fans back in 2024 with the news of her first baby girl. She initially shared an image of herself on Instagram at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere with the caption,

“Mama went OUT out!”

Mosaku later posted an image of herself and her daughter, with the caption,

“Oh and when I said Mama, I meant it! 🥰,”

In her interview with Vogue, Wunmi Mosaku also shares her opinion on the journey of black mothers.

"For many, peace comes once a baby is placed on their chest. For Black mothers, the path to peace is rarely that simple. Pregnancy and birth carry its own battles and terrifying statistics. I personally know that with my first child, I didn’t feel truly safe, truly able to exhale, until I received the all-clear from my OB-GYN," she shared.

She delves deep into the experience of being pregnant as a Black woman.

"You’re not just worrying about whether your baby will be okay: You’re praying you will be, too. Holding joy and fear at the same time is not abstract; It’s rooted in lived experience, medical bias, and real statistics. Black maternal mortality is always on our minds," explained Mosaku.
"Pregnancy and labor are among the most extreme and dangerous things a person can naturally endure. I wish we truly honored that: the vulnerability, the anxiety, the anticipation, the profound transformation in motion. We remember the mothers who were ignored, who had traumatic labors, and the precious lives lost," she adds.

By the end of her interview, Wunmi Mosaku shares how she spends her days away from work and the launch excitement for her new clothing line.

"I spend my days chasing after my toddler, a welcomed distraction from the business of work, and enjoy this continued excitement for Sinners. I’m also pouring my heart into something new, a clothing line for mothers called Iyadé, which means “mother has arrived” in Yoruba," shares Mosaku.

She concludes by explaining what makes Iyadé special as a clothing line.

"Born from my own lived experience, it’s about honoring bodies in transition, offering comfort, dignity, and beauty through every phase of this journey. Centering and celebrating the creators who make life possible.
