Jesy Nelson in a new Instagram post on Sunday 25, shared the "scary" and "overwhelming" experience of giving birth to twin daughters, Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster.
In the post, Nelson can be seen holding her newborn babies to her chest, as her boyfriend, Zion Foster, leans in to capture a selfie. In the caption, Jesy mentioned,
"Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU. It’s the most scary overwhelming feeling of emotions not being able to feel like you can protect your babies."
Jesy Nelson added,
"Naturally as a mother you just want to hold them and comfort them when they cry but you can’t because there are what feels like a million wires coming out of them and tubes and masks in the way with people poking and prodding them it breaks your heart into a million pieces."
She went on to say that having the two girls "reunited" felt like a dream,
"But slowly as the days go by and they get stronger and wires start to come away, moments like this feel like a dream. Having them reunited for the first time ever today was the most magical feeling I will never be able to describe 🥹 the strongest little girls I’ve ever known who really do have the most inspiring story to tell"
What happened to Jesy Nelson during pregnancy?
Little Mix star Jesy Nelson was diagnosed with pre-twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome or TTTS, a rare condition where there's an unbalanced blood flow from one twin to another.
The artist had been hospitalized since March and had documented her health updates on social media to spread awareness. At the time when she was taken to the hospital, Nelson had mentioned that her twins were "living off one placenta," which means that one twin can take all the nutrients, causing both of them to possibly die.
Jesy Nelson, before giving birth on May 15, underwent a successful operation and announced last week that she and her boyfriend, Foster, had filmed a documentary series with Amazon Prime Video to document their high-risk pregnancy. The documentary will be in six parts and is also expected to cover her exit from the girl band, Little Mix, in 2020, her battle with mental health, and other controversies.
While talking about the decision to film the pregnancy, Nelson had mentioned that "it wasn't an easy decision" to let the cameras in, but she wanted to tell her story in her "own words."
