American author Colleen Hoover, the writer of the romantic novel It Ends with Us, which was adapted into a movie of the same name featuring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, has finally opened up regarding the legal conflict between the two stars.
According to E! News, Hoover, who is widely known for her romantic novels and books in the adult fiction genre, addressed and discussed Lively and Baldoni's ongoing legal case, also shedding light on the impact the whole matter has had on those close to her.
The Age of Adeline actress and actor-director Justin Baldoni's legal conflict has been going on for almost a year now, since the whole case started in December 2024. Following the release of their romantic-drama film It Ends with Us on August 9, 2024, Lively accused Baldoni, who is the director of the movie, and members of his production company, Wayfarer, of sexual harassment and defamation in a lawsuit.
After Lively made accusations against him and his company, Baldoni hit back with a countersuit for extortion and defamation. As per E! News, Blake Lively's lawsuit against Baldoni will head to trial next year, in March 2026. However, author Colleen Hoover, in an interview with Elle Magazine, published on November 20, 2025, made it clear that she does not wish to get dragged into the matter publicly. Colleen Hoover said:
"It feels like a circus. When there are real people involved, with real feelings and emotions. This actually truly has impacted some of the actors’ careers in huge ways. And I just find it all around sad."
Hoover continued and said:
"I’m just trying to stay removed from the negativity. I have my own story I could tell … but I don’t want to bring attention to it, and I don’t want to have to put someone else down to lift myself up. So, I’d rather just ignore it and let people think and say what they’re going to say."
Colleen Hoover opened up about the impact of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal battle on her loved ones

As per E! News, Hoover discussed the impact of Lively and Baldoni's legal conflict on the people who are close to her, primarily her mother. For those unaware, It Ends with Us was inspired by the real-life experiences of Hoover's parents. Hoover said:
"The book was inspired by her story, and now it gives us PTSD to think about it. I feel awful because I almost feel like she’s gone through more with the aftermath of this film, more pain than she went through with my dad, just seeing the ugliness of it."
She added:
"I can’t even recommend it anymore. I feel like [the lawsuit] has overshadowed it. I’m almost embarrassed to say I wrote it. When people ask what I do, I’m just like, ‘I’m a writer. Please don’t ask me what I wrote."
