Elliot Page is reuniting with visionary director Christopher Nolan 15 years after playing a key role in Inception, one of Nolan’s most profound and enigmatic films to date. Page went into detail about his experience working on The Odyssey, Nolan’s newest project, while participating in the X-Men: Days of Future Past panel at this year’s New York City Comic Con. Elliot was accompanied on stage by actor James McAvoy and their interviewer, Josh Horowitz.
“I was so excited to be thought of for [‘The Odyssey’] and to be asked to come back to work with him. I loved working with him on ‘Inception’ and loved being a part of that movie. I was just completely jazzed and excited, and [I] basically went and met with Chris and talked about the part, then sat in a room and read the script. It was such a joy to come back.”
Elliot Page went on to add,
“To come back now, as you can imagine, being more comfortable in yourself makes these sorts of projects more enjoyable. To get to have a Chris Nolan experience again now meant so much to me selfishly.”
While details on the upcoming film have been kept under wraps, Nolan’s epic is set to debut in theatres sometime in July 2026.
Elliot Page and James McAvoy on the future of the X-Men
During his X-Men: Days of Future Past panel at the latest edition of New York City Comic Con, Elliot Page and his X-Men co-star James McAvoy gave their take on the future of the X-Men as well as the potential recasting of their characters. Page played a mutant named Kitty Pryde who could project a person's consciousness back in time. He played a key role in the films he was in due to this ability. Meanwhile, McAvoy played Professor X, the leader of the mutants and the head of the school that nurtures their abilities.
When asked by Josh Horowitz about how they would feel if their characters were recast, the pair seemed hopeful about the future of the franchise. Horowitz then mentioned actors Colman Domingo and Bella Ramsey as potential replacements, and the actors weighed in on the potential recasting of their former roles. Elliot first shared,
“They sound fantastic, so exciting to see, you know, people to take on a new iteration.”
James McAvoy then added his perspective,
“I'm excited to see what happens next. I was a fan before I was an employee, and then, no, you know, and I'll be a fan again.”
He then added,
“Colman Domingo sounds amazing, though. He is great.”
Elliot Page and James McAvoy appeared in two X-Men films together, X-Men: Days of Future Past, which was released in 2014, and X-Men: Apocalypse, the follow-up that came out 2 years later.
