"It really is a journey" - Chrissy Teigen shares update on facial procedure after posting a bandaged face selfie

Chrissy Teigen, or Christine Diane Teigen, the American model and cookbook author, recently shared an Instagram story in which she was seen with her face all bandaged up.

The television personality, on May 23, 2025, posted an Instagram story in which her face looked swollen and was wrapped with a bandage. While she left her fans concerned and confused, in an Instagram Live, she explained what she was doing at a hospital.

The 39-year-old professional model, Teigen, who appeared on the 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, wrote in a social media post:

"Hi friends! A lot of you worried about my hospital pic which is very understandable as I gave no explanation lol."

Chrissy continued and said:

“I had a hairline lowering procedure. Lost a lot in the front from babies and it’s just very thin up there. When you see it on a carpet, it’s ALWAYS extensions."

Chrissy is married to celebrated singer-songwriter John Legend, with whom she shares two daughters, Luna and Esti, and two sons, Miles and Wren. Interestingly, the cookbook author's husband, John Legend, is also the first African American man to win all major entertainment awards, including Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony.

While Teigen, in her social media post, took the opportunity to reveal her hairline, which was a part of the procedure, she claimed she would elaborate on her experience in the upcoming days.

Chrissy, who also appeared in blockbuster movies like Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, said:

"Anyhow I’ll share more later if you’re interested in the journey because it really is a journey."

Chrissy Teigen has been open about her cosmetic surgeries

The hairline-lowering procedure is not the only surgery Teigen has undergone; she also underwent breast augmentation surgery when she was just 20 years old. In a March 2020 interview with Glamour UK, Chrissy Teigen explained why she had a breast augmentation surgery.

Teigen explained to Glamour UK, saying:

"It was more for a swimsuit thing. I thought, if I’m going to be posing, laid on my back, I want them to be perky!"

However, after having kids and becoming a mother of four, according to Chrissy Teigen, her perspective regarding her breast implants changed. She said:

"Then you have babies and they fill up with milk and deflate and now I am screwed."

The professional swimsuit model, Chrissy Teigen, has been open about her cosmetic surgeries and other procedures that she went through in the past.
