Katherine LaNasa recalls a touching moment with Sarah Paulson at the Emmys

During a recent interview with People magazine Katherine LaNasa recounted an unforgettable moment with Sarah Paulson at the Emmys where Paulson was seen fully standing up as LaNasa walked down the aisle to accept her award. She said:

“I just found a picture recently. It just showed up in my [Instagram] feed of me walking down the aisle to take my Emmy, and it's the back of Sarah Paulson, who was like fully standing up … like you can tell that we're just like locking eyes and friends and just that bond and that warmth, and her rooting for me and her being just so unabashedly excited for me. It was really touching. I think that's a moment I'll never forget.”

Sarah and Katherine LaNasa share a close bond which is rooted in their experiences as actors in the entertainment industry. The American Horror Story actress has acted supportive mentor and “Emmys coach” to LaNasa. Her advice helped LaNasa navigate the pressures of her first Emmy Awards.

Earlier in September 2025, Paulson spoke to People magazine in an exclusive interview where she shared about the bond between her and Katherine LaNasa. She told the outlet:

“She calls me her Emmys coach because I've been really fortunate to have gone and run that gauntlet a couple of times, and I've won and I've lost. I just sort of was trying to remind her of all the things that nobody was there to tell me about, which is to try to breathe and take it all in and enjoy the moment and just try to be where your feet are.”

Paulson has won one Primetime Emmy Award. She received the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role as Marcia Clark in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

This is reportedly her only win; however, Paulson has received eight additional Primetime Emmy nominations for other projects, such as American Horror Story and Game Change.

Recently, Katherine LaNasa wrapped up the filming of the second season of The Pitt, where she will be reprising her role as Nurse Dana Evans. The season is slated to premiere next year.

Paulson is actively promoting and supporting the launch of her latest series, All's Fair, a Ryan Murphy-produced legal drama on Hulu.
