Scary Movie 6 is finally coming out on June 12, 2026.
The parody film was first announced back in April 2024. Scary Movie 5 came out in 2013, so it's been more than a decade since anything new came out from the franchise.
Marlon Wayans, who has played Shorty Meeks and produced the franchise, recently spoke about the forthcoming installment. He said, in part,
"It’s not to harm, it’s to bring humor."
Let's find out more about what Wayans had to say about the film.
Scary Movie 6 actor Marlon Wayans talks about the film's humor, says it "may offend some people"
Marlon Wayans has confirmed that he will be returning as Shorty Meeks in the forthcoming film Scary Movie 6. He is also the co-writer and producer of the film. In a recent Entertainment Weekly interview, Wayans revealed that the film might offend people. He said
“It’s how we always do it. We just want to make everybody laugh, and we don’t care if you’re sensitive. Even sensitive people need to laugh at themselves.”
He added,
“Just know that we’re not just laughing at you, you get the chance to laugh at others. When we did White Chicks, we made fun of everybody. We made fun of Black people, we made fun of white people, we made fun of Hispanic people. That’s just what we do. We make fun of the world, make light of the world."
Wayans concluded,
"You may offend people here and there, but, hey, not every joke’s gonna land 100 percent, but if you tell a joke and 100 people laugh and one person walks out, that’s still a good joke.”
The actor also said that Scary Movie 6 will be an opportunity for people to sit and enjoy together.
"[It will be] a great conversation piece, that we can all sit down and laugh together, over three generations of people who haven’t had great comedy in a long time.”
Wayans further acknowledged that the audiences and their tastes have changed.
Keenen Ivory Wayans and Shawn Wayans have co-written the script alongside Marlon. Earlier, Deadline reported that Anna Faris, as well as Regina Hall, will reprise their roles as Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks, respectively.
