Tensions flared on The View live show on Monday when Whoopi Goldberg branded the Donald Trump and Elon Musk feud as "fake". Her opinion drew a swift pushback from co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin. The "Hot Topics" segment centered on the two billionaires' war of words, from government-spending bills to Epstein-related insinuations.

Griffin, a former Trump aide, declared,

"In this fight, my money is on Donald Trump, though, because he clapped back and said he'll go after Elon's Pentagon contracts"

Goldberg met this with skepticism:

"I love that y'all bought into it"
"It’s not fake," Griffin fired back.

This prompted Goldberg’s firm rebuttal:

"I do believe it's fake. Yes, I do. It's too strategic."

Griffin countered that Whoopi Goldberg gave Trump "too much credit," but the host reiterated her stance, calling the feud a tactical diversion.

"This is another distraction to keep us talking — not about the stuff we're talking about, but the stuff they want us to. I'm not buying it. I'm not buying it because they lie," shared Goldberg.
"I don't believe anything they say anymore because they've shown themselves not to be the most trustworthy people you want," added Goldberg.

A public feud erupted last week between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. It started with Musk criticizing Trump’s "big beautiful bill," arguing it would dangerously increase the federal deficit.

Elon Musk then made a far more serious allegation. The billionaire asserted Trump’s team concealed records that mentioned Trump's connection with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender.

Pushing back, Vice President JD Vance addressed the Epstein claim head-on in a conversation with Theo Von.

"Donald Trump didn’t do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein," Vance declared.

When Entertainment Weekly contacted the White House for a reaction, the response bypassed the inquiries. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a statement, focused solely on Trump’s goal to "continue the important mission of cutting waste, fraud, and abuse from our federal government,"

In a previous episode of The View, Caryn Elaine Johnson, also known professionally as Whoopi Goldberg, shared her opinion that President Donald Trump doesn't represent what America stands for, after the president decided to go ahead with his tariff plans.

The Television personality also made it clear that she and her co-hosts planned to "continue to criticize" the president's actions.

“All you countries who watch us, this is not our wish,” Goldberg shared.
“We don’t like it. We don’t like how it’s being – we don’t like how this is being done. That’s why you will hear us kvetching about this as long as we are able, because no one we’re talking to understands what’s going on, and, therefore, when they say America, they’re not talking about us.” Whoopi Goldberg added.

The Sister Act star further claimed that those people

“Are talking about that very narrow band of America that they think they represent, that I think they don’t realize they’re starting to lose.”
