“It's gonna be a really cool time travel piece” — Hallmark’s Wes Brown talks about his next project

Of late, Wes Brown has garnered an immense amount of love from fans of Hallmark films. The actor, who has made appearances on shows such as True Blood and Private Practice, has also starred in numerous films for the Hallmark channel which have become holiday fan favorites.

Fans of Hallmark, a name almost synonymous with feel-good, family-friendly movies with an uplifting entertainment quotient, are set for a continuous treat for some time to come. Brown has revealed that he will be starring in two new Hallmark films.

Brown spoke about his upcoming projects with People Magazine on May 1, while attending the Motherhood luncheon organized by Hallmark and actress Connie Britton. Sharing that he is filming Newport Christmas, which also stars Ginna Claire Mason, Brown said,

“It's gonna be a really cool time travel piece. It's so, so beautifully shot. And we have some new music coming out maybe along with the movie as well”

As of the writing of this article, no official release date has been shared by Brown; however, as per IMDb, the film is set to be a part of Hallmark’s countdown to Christmas program this year. The Wes Brown-starrer Christmas film is directed by Dustin Rikert, who has long been associated with directing holiday-themed films for the Hallmark channel. As per IMDb, Rikert’s direction credits include other Hallmark films like Where Are You, Christmas?, A Merry Scottish Christmas and The Christmas Quest, among others.

Even Ginna Claire Mason, who was also present at the special luncheon, echoed her co-star Brown’s excitement about Newport Christmas. She told People Magazine,

“The script is really fun and really exciting. It has a lot of twists and turns. The first time I was reading it, I was like, what happens next? So I'm really excited for that to come out this Christmas,”

As per a report by The Patriot Ledger, Newport Christmas will be a time-travel romance heavily steeped in the scenic beauty of Rhode Island. The news outlet reports that the film will be first Hallmark film in over two decades which will be set in Rhode Island.


Wes Brown’s acting career explored

Wes Brown made his screen debut in 2005 with the miniseries, Beach Girls. As per Rotten Tomatoes, Brown garnered attention of fans and critics alike for the first time when he portrayed the character of a vampire slayer in the second season of the HBO series, True Blood.

Following his first major role, which catapulted the actor to fame, Brown went on to surprise audiences with the heartwarming roles he portrayed in holiday-themed films for the Hallmark channel. Some of Brown’s most memorable Hallmark films include Love Begins (2011), Love’s Everlasting Courage (2011), Christmas at Graceland (2018), followed by Wedding at Graceland (2019), Check Inn to Christmas (2019), and Every Time a Bell Rings (2021).

In 2022, Brown starred in Haul Out the Holly. The film, which starred Lacey Chabert opposite Wes Brown, became one of the most favorite holiday films of 2022, as per People Magazine. The film was followed by a sequel, which was released the next year. While speaking to People Magazine, Wes Brown revealed that filming for the third installment of the film is set to begin soon.
