"It's not pointing fingers, placing blame on anyone" - Brian Austin Green on his relationship with Vanessa Marcil after labelling it 'toxic'

Brian Austin Green has made headlines again for his views on one of his past relationships. At the 32nd Annual Race To Erase MS Gala, Green was asked by PEOPLE if he had any regrets after labelling his relationship with actress Vanessa Marcia as ‘toxic’. His response was direct, albeit refreshingly honest:

“No, because everything that's come recently has genuinely been for the purpose of speaking about a relationship.”

The Desperate Housewives alum then went on to add:

“It's not pointing fingers, placing blame on anyone. If she takes things that way, then there's nothing I can do about it. It's pretty obvious just in listening to the things that I say and what it is we do on our show, that's not our intention.”

In the same PEOPLE interview from the May 16 Gala, Green elaborated on his stance:

“Our intention is to help people. And people go through toxic situations and tough situations and the best you can do is be open and honest about it and hopefully steer other people clear of those situations or help them get through them.”

Brian referenced comments made on his Oldish podcast, which he co-hosts with fiancée Sharna Burgess and Randy Spelling. Green then continued:

"If I'm looking for a woman, I want the complete opposite of that. I had some major missteps because of that. I mean, the relationship that I had with Vanessa was very toxic in that way. Like, it wasn't a loving, caring relationship."

Green and Marcil’s whirlwind romance started on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210, in the 1990s, before the couple eventually got engaged in 2001. A year later, in 2002, they welcomed their son Kassius Lijah Marcil-Green, before eventually splitting for good in 2003.

Green also has three sons with ex-wife Megan Fox, to whom he was married from 2010 to 2021. Their relationship was notable because of the significance the press attached to their age gap (Green was 30 and Fox was 18 when they met) and Green's comments on Fox's subsequent relationship with Machine Gun Kelly.

Green had a fifth child with fiancée Sharna Burgess, Zane Walker, who was born in 2022. The pair is seemingly in a great place in their relationship. They appear on the Oldish podcast together, available on YouTube and DSPs.
