Despite some issues stemming from Justin Timberlake’s most recent DUI, he and his wife Jessica Biel seem to have overcome those hurdles and are going strong. In a recent interview with InStyle, Biel, a mother of two, opened up about the struggles of parenting her children in the public eye. This really came to light when the actress was reflecting on her decision to bring her eldest son, 10-year-old Silas, to the 2024 US Open tennis tournament held in New York.
“It’s a tricky one, a tricky balance. We do really try hard not to expose them in a way that they’re not comfortable with.”

Jessica Biel discusses parenting tips with InStyle
When speaking with InStyle, Biel made it clear that she wants her children to have agency in the outcomes of these decisions.
“We had this opportunity, and we talked about it. We talked about photographers. You know, ‘Are you comfortable with that?' He can’t make these decisions on his own, but at this point, we can at least discuss what’s his opinion around it.”
This is a refreshing approach, and while she and Justin deliberated about the best course of action, the couple ultimately decided not to deprive their son Silas of an experience he would not soon forget.
“You really want to give your kids every experience. I don’t know if it was the right decision, to be honest with you, but he and I had a good time.”
While you can’t protect your children forever, Biel admitted that going out with her kids in public is “scary every time.”
Biel also stressed the importance of trying to keep her children off social media and away from the entertainment industry until they are older.
“If he was a kid actor, he’d probably work all the time. And when you’re 18 years old, you want to be a professional? Have at it, that’s your choice. That’s what I would like to hold on to, if possible, for him, you know?”
Biel and Timberlake seem to want to go out of their way to ensure their children enjoy their childhood before it’s too late. Everything else will be open to them afterwards when the time is right. The pair is careful not to post their children’s faces on social media. According to an interview on the Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, tabloid attention on their children prompted them to move from the West Coast.
