A viral video depicting the former Ned's Declassified actor of Nickelodeon named Tylor Chase living in the streets has shocked a great number of Nickelodeon show fans. The video went viral and raised awareness on depression, and discussion on the subject of how former child actors face life afterward.

Devon Werkheiser, who was the lead actor in the role of Ned Bigby, has since come out to speak about the incident. Devon was interviewed by TMZ, where he expressed his opinion on his old co-star, Tylor Chase, appearing to be homeless, addicted, and mentally ill.

The remarks made by Devon are less accusatory as they are more real. He states the reasons why the situation is not simple and why often fast solutions are not effective. He is worried, far and genuine in his words, as to what can really be.

Devon Werkheiser reflects on Tylor Chase

Devon said he remembers Tylor Chase fondly from their time on set.

He told TMZ, “Tylor was a sensitive, sweet, and kind kid. It is heartbreaking to see him this way.”

The statement shows how difficult it is for him to watch someone he once worked with struggle so publicly.

He also clarified that they are no longer close.

Devon explained, “I haven’t seen Tylor in almost 20 years since the show ended.”

Because of this distance, he said it is not easy to step in directly or know what kind of support would truly help.

Devon added that addiction and mental health challenges make situations like this harder to resolve.

He said, “Anyone who has dealt with severe addiction and deep mental health issues knows it’s an unbelievably challenging situation if they don’t want help.”

His words stress that recovery cannot be forced.

Devon made it clear that giving money is not the answer.

He explained, “Simply giving money isn’t a solution.”

According to him, recovery requires long-term effort and structured support, not short-term help.

He described the process as ongoing and difficult.

“It’s an everyday uphill battle to course correct. It requires a ton of support and patience and time,” he said.

This highlights how treatment and recovery are not quick or easy paths.

Devon also shared that Tylor Chase is not completely alone. He said that, from what he understands, Tylore Chase has family nearby who regularly check on him and try to help. However, help is limited when someone continues to refuse treatment.

Public attention and ongoing efforts

Devon criticized the trend of filming and posting videos of Tylor Chase online. He said he wishes people would stop using his situation for views. He believes public exposure can cause harm instead of help.

Still, he hopes something positive can come from the attention.

Devon said, “My only hope is that from this exposure, someone with real understanding and resources can step in, get Tylor into treatment, and help him get back on track.” He added, “We all want a happy ending.”

Authorities in Riverside, California, told TMZ that police interact with Tylor Chase at least once a week. Officers have repeatedly offered mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and temporary housing. So far, he has declined these offers. Actor Shaun Weiss has also publicly offered him a place in a recovery facility.
