Jack Nicholson’s eldest grandson, 29-year-old Sean Knight Nicholson, found himself facing legal trouble earlier this month. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department booking records reviewed by E! News, Nicholson, also known as Sean Norfleet, was taken into custody on August 5 in connection with the alleged assault of his former girlfriend, Elizabeth Lawlor.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a July 23 meeting that Lawlor described to the police as a planned conversation between ex-partners. By night’s end, she told officers she had been knocked unconscious and had lost part of a front tooth.
A police report obtained by People Magazine indicated that Nicholson had contacted Lawlor after what she said was a recent stay in rehab, telling her he wanted to rebuild a friendship and discuss what he called a difficult period in his life.
In her account to authorities, Lawlor also said Nicholson, a recovering addict who she claimed had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, had a history of combining prescription drugs with illegal substances. Their relationship, which began in April 2023, had been marked by repeated breakups, reconciliations, and multiple domestic violence allegations documented in the same police report.
From text message to hospital visit: Allegations against Jack Nicholson’s grandson outlined in report
As per People Magazine, a police report detailed allegations from Elizabeth Lawlor that her July 23 meeting with Sean Knight Nicholson turned violent after he allegedly texted her saying he had taken a full bottle of Valium and would kill himself if she did not come over. Lawlor, who had not seen him since the previous year, went to his Venice, California, apartment out of concern.
She told police that their discussion devolved into a confrontation about infidelity. At one point, she allegedly took Nicholson’s phone to check for signs of drug use, later learning, according to a source, that he had not been truthful about his sobriety. Around 5:30 p.m., Jack Nicholson's grandson allegedly grabbed her by the neck and head, throwing her into a hard object and rendering her unconscious.
“Victim stated that she blacked out and when she opened her eyes realized her tooth had broken,” the report said.
Lawlor fled but was stopped by a security guard and returned to the apartment. According to a source, she later sent photos of her injuries to Nicholson’s mother, who called 911. Responding officers photographed her injuries before she was taken to Marina Del Rey Hospital. Doctors treated her for a chipped front tooth requiring surgery, facial stitches, and other injuries to her head.
Jack Nicholson’s grandson could face up to four years if convicted of a felony charge:

According to The U.S. Sun, Sean Knight Nicholson, occasionally seen alongside his grandfather Jack Nicholson at public events, was booked at around 5 p.m. and released later that same day after posting a $50,000 bond. Court records indicate that a felony conviction in such a case could carry a sentence of up to four years in state prison. Official records also showed no prior arrests or legal incidents involving Nicholson.
Nicholson, the eldest grandchild of the star, is the son of Jack’s first child, Jennifer Nicholson, born in 1963 during his marriage to actress Sandra Knight. The couple divorced five years later.
Jack Nicholson has five other children: Caleb Goddard, with actress Susan Anspach; Honey Hollman, with model Winnie Hollman; Ray Nicholson and Lorraine, with actress Rebecca Broussard; and Tessa Gourin, with Jennine Gourin. He is the grandfather to Jennifer’s two sons as well as Honey’s three children: Walter, Daisy, and Hank.
