Former First Lady of the United States, Jackie Kennedy, reportedly questioned her then-husband, 35th President, John F. Kennedy, about his alleged affair with American icon, Marilyn Monroe.
In a new book by J. Randy Taraborrelli, named JFK: Public, Private, Secret, the journalist and biographer claims that Jackie confronted Kennedy about the alleged affair between him and Monroe, which was intensely speculated about in the media at the time.
While speaking to People Magazine, Taraborrelli claimed that Jackie Kennedy, while speaking to her husband, said,
“This one’s different Jack. This one worries me.”
Taraborrelli claims that the conversation happened before Kennedy’s birthday party in 1962 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

According to People Magazine, Taraborrelli’s source is straight from the White House. The author noted,
“That’s from somebody who was right there in the White House who overheard that conversation. It was reported to me 25 years ago, when I was writing an earlier book, Jackie, Ethel and Joan.”
While analyzing the conversation, the publication noted that Taraborrelli said,
“She [Jackie] didn't know the nature of the relationship but knew him well enough to suspect something was going on. What’s really important is her use of the language: ‘This one’s different,’ suggesting very strongly she was okay with the other [women] but this one was different.”
Marilyn Monroe allegedly also called Jackie Kennedy once
J. Randy Taraborrelli, who is well-known for writing biographies of the Kennedys as well as of Marilyn Monroe, wrote another book in 2023, Jackie: Public, Private, Secret, which analyzed Jackie Kennedy’s life in detail.
At the time, the author alleged that Jackie and Monroe spoke on a short phone call when the former was staying at the Kennedy residence in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, according to NBC Boston. The news outlet reported that Taraborrelli claimed Monroe called Jackie in April 1962, a few months before she died in August.

Monroe, whose voice was identified by Jackie Kennedy, was asked if it was indeed her calling. In turn, Taraborrelli alleged that Monroe asked if she was speaking to Jackie, and wanted the First Lady to pass on her message to Kennedy, and to tell him that she wanted to say hello to the President.
While speaking to Fox News, Taraborrelli claimed that the brief call perturbed Jackie for a long time. According to Fox News, he said,
“There was something about that phone call. She later told family members that there was a haunting quality to Marilyn’s voice that really stuck with her… And it’s not like they even had any kind of deep conversation… But it was 10 years of wondering, was it really Marilyn Monroe? And that buzz stayed with the family.”
As per Fox News, Taraborrelli put the phone call in context and wrote,
“Jackie would never be the type to tell Marilyn, ‘How dare you called here.’ She was not that kind of personality. She was more the type to be polite and hang up, which is exactly what she did…Even if it was one of the other women JFK was having an affair with, there still wouldn’t have been much intrigue. Anything that Marilyn touched has always created a point of interest.”
In 2023, Taraborrelli claimed that Kennedy had an affair with Monroe over a weekend. However, he has now told People Magazine that after speaking to Monroe’s publicist, he does not have evidence to support the claim.
