James Gunn's Superman had a star studded ensemble of some of the biggest characters in the DC universe. David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult shined as Superman and Lex Luthor, but the supporting characters of the Justice Gang really stole the show in some scenes.
The Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific formed the Justice Gang, and among them, the latter had some of the best moments in the film. Edi Gathegi as Mr Terrific was nothing short of terrific and Gunn has now revealed that he has big plans for him.
In an interview with Brandon Davis, Gunn talked about his future DC plans, and responding to Davis' praise for Mister Terrific, he said,
First of all I've got major plans for Mister Terrific. So that's important you know. But yeah definitely it influences things...He's very popular.
This isn't the first time James Gunn has emphasized Mister Terrific's importance in the DC. Back in December of 2024, the director was all praise for the character as he told Gizmodo,
“I love Mister Terrific. These characters all get their moment in the sun. They all have their moments. They’re not just cameos, these are the characters. They’re supporting cast, but Mister Terrific is the main character of those characters. He actually has a big part of the plot. And so that was fun."

Mister Terrific is shaping up to become one of the most important characters in James Gunn's DCU. Portrayed by Edi Gathegi, the superhero, also known as Michael Holt's whole arc is shaped by his brilliance, trauma and determination, all of which pushed him into becoming a vigilante. His identity as a scientist and a tactician, armed with his signature T-Spheres and Fair Play philosophy, makes him the intellectual backbone of the Justice Gang.
His story in the DCU is an emotional one. Huated by the death of his wife, Hold channels his grief into invention and action. He is emotionally distant, doesn't react or express his feelings and often brushes things off with sarcasm. But he's also helpful, having followed Lois Lane to save Superman from Lex Luthor's clutches.
According to James Gunn, Terrific was one of the most difficult roles to cast as Gathegi talked about his audition process and how Gunn was waiting for his tape. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor talks about his casting and says,

I heard that James Gunn was waiting for my tape, and I thought, “Okay, this tracks because I met him on the [Suicide Squad] red carpet and he likes my work...So I made a tape and sent it in before I went on my way to Europe. The next day, I was in my Uber headed to LAX, and I looked at my Instagram to see a direct message from James Gunn. He was like, “Yo, you killed this audition.” And I thought, “Oh, wow. Now I’ve got to spend two months in Europe wondering if I’m actually going to be in the new Superman.”
Needless to say, he is now shaping up to become one of the most iconic characters in the DCU, and from everything James Gunn has told us, he will also have a bigger role to play in the future.
