Jason Momoa’s son Nakoa-Wolf to make film debut in Dune 3 as Paul Atreides’ son

Dune 3 is the third installment in the Dune franchise. The epic space opera film is a sequel to Dune: Part Two, and it will be an adaptation of Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah. It is directed by Denis Villeneuve, who has also helmed the previous two films. The movie is currently in development, with a planned release in December 2026.

The cast members of this forthcoming film have yet to be confirmed. A recent report by Deadline stated that Jason Momoa's son, Nakoa-Wolf, will be playing the role of Paul Atreides' son in the third installment. Momoa had played the role of Duncan Idaho in 2021's Dune. Inthe movie, Momoa's character, a swordmaster and mentor to Paul Atreides, is killed during the Harkonnen invasion of Arrakis.

Jason Momoa's son to appear in Dune 3

Deadline has reported that Jason Momoa's son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, has joined the cast of Dune 3. He will be playing the role of Leto II, the son of Paul Atreides and Chani. Besides him, the makers have also brought Ida Brooke on board. Ida has appeared in projects like Silo and The Primrose Railway Children. She will be portraying Ghanima, the twin sister of Leto II.

Nakoa-Wolf Momoa will be making his feature film debut with Dune 3. The film also features his father playing the ghoul version of his character, Duncan Idaho. The latter's character had died in the first installment.

So far, Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya are expected to reprise their roles in the upcoming film. Earlier this year, Robert Pattinson was announced as the film's villain. The film will take place around 12 years after the events of Part Two. It will focus on the repercussions of Atreides' actions.

The first Dune was released on October 22, 2021, and it was written by Denis Villeneuve, Eric Roth, and Jon Spaihts. Prior to this, David Lynch had adapted the namesake book in 1984. Later on, John Harrison helmed a television miniseries on Frank Herbert's Dune.

Villeneuve's film met with positive reviews and grossed $410.6 million at the box office. It was followed by Dune: Part Two, which came out on March 1, 2024. The film had actors from the previous installment reprising their roles, like Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, and Josh Brolin. There were some new faces who joined the cast for the second installment, like Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux, among others. Following a lapse in time, the third entry will build on the events of the last movie.
