Jay Cutler faces lawsuit from driver he allegedly hit during 2024 DUI incident amid jail stint

Former professional bodybuilder who won the Mr. Olympia title folur times, Jay Cutler is facing a lawsuit of $25,000 stemming from his 2024 DUI traffic collision in Tennessee.

Cutler was initially arrested on October 17, 2024 for driving under the influence and hitting another driver. On August 26, Cutler pleaded guilty and had his license revoked. He will be serving four days at the Williamson County Jail and pay a $350 fine. Pery Lee, the alleged driver of the vehicle Jay Cutler hit, filed a lawsuit against the bodybuilder on September 2.

As per October, 2024 legal documents obtained by Us Weekly, the victim claimed that Cutler had offered to pay him $2,000 to "not call the police." However, arresting officer who arrived at the scene moments later noticed that Jay Cutler was "staggering, swaying and heavy-footed while walking" and also had "bloodshot, glassy, red/pink, watery and dilated eyes."

When the officer asked if Cutler had consumed any alcoholic beverages, he said, "none". After asking a second time, Cutler responded "a little bit." At the time, bail was reportedly set at $2,500 for the DUI and an additional $2,500 for release on recognizance.


What does Pery Lee's lawsuit against Jay Cutler state?

The lawsuit which was filed on September 2 and was viewed by the Us Weekly, stated that Jay Cutler had been "at fault for the collision" by Lee's attorney, Sydney Pierce and:

"Cutler failed to use reasonable and due care in the operation of the vehicle he was driving so as to avoid injury to other persons using the roadway, including (Lee)"

Lee also stated that he had incurred medical bills and other expenses as a result of the crash and as a result, endured physical and mental suffering and the loss of enjoyment of life.

Lee's lawyers while speaking to US Weekly highlighted that Lee is a "veteran" who was "injured in a car crash due to the alleged negligence of another driver." Lee's lawyers also noted that his injuries from the crash cause him "daily pain and have eroded his quality of life."

After the incident in October, 2024, Cutler had refused to perform a field sobriety test, after which the officers took him to the hospital to draw a blood sample. The police also found a rifle in the back seat of Cutler's car and a "loaded Glock handgun."

Cutler is scheduled to begin his four day jail sentence at the Williamson County Jail on September 29.
