Jay-Z or Shawn Corey Carter, as per court documents obtained by Us Weekly, has fired back at a man named Rymir Satterthwaite, who claims to be his secret son. Carter claims that the man has "fabricated allegations" and asked the federal judge to intervene.
"The fabricated allegations and claims have been addressed - and rejected - in multiple other courts and (Satherhwaite's) continued harassment of (Jay-Z) and disregard of those orders has already resulted in a contempt of court."
Satterhwaite had filed a federal lawsuit against Carter on May 6, without a lawyer, and accused the artist of attempting to keep him silent about the matter. In addition to this, he also alleges that Jay-Z's celebrity status has aided in the dismissal of cases beforehand. He also claimed that Jay-Z has tried to "obstruct and manipulate the legal process” for years to avoid taking a paternity test.
Who is Rymir Satterhwaite, and when did he file a paternity lawsuit against Jay-Z?
Rymir Satterhwaite is the son of Wanda, who, according to him, dated the music mogul in the early 1990s before Carter gained recognition. As per Rymir, his mother was 16, and the rapper was 22. By the time he was born in 1992, the rapper had broken up with Wanda, and Wanda's childhood sweetheart, Robert Graves, was listed as the father on his birth certificate instead.
Wanda is now deceased, and he has been cared for by his godmother, who faced
"unrelenting efforts by and his enablers to suppress the truth and silence those who dared speak it".
Wanda filed a civil suit against Jay-Z in 2011, looking for child support, but since the suit was filed in New Jersey, which was the wrong state, their cases were denied or dismissed. Wanda died in 2019 due to heart failure, and she fought to get a paternity test until then.
In his lawsuit, Rymir mentioned that he is not seeking back child support but damages from the rapper for his alleged actions over the years. Rymir claimed that he suffered harm due to the "wrongful dismissal" of his paternity suits seeking child support and college funds, and also suffered emotional and psychological distress, anxiety, public embarrassment, and stress-induced health and mental health complications.
In another statement to the U.S Sun, Rymir said that he wants "the judges in this case to be held accountable for actions over the years" and wants nothing from the rapper except the "truth". In another previous interview, Rymir questioned why Jay-Z denies taking a paternity test, if he's "telling the truth".
