Jeff Pearlman, the author who wrote the late American rapper Tupac Shakur's biography, Only God Can Judge Me: The Many Lives of Tupac Shakur, claims that Tupac didn't know how to use a gun and method-acted it. He said on an episode of the Going Deep with Chad and JT podcast,

"He couldn't fight and didn't even know how to shoot a gun."

Shakur died on September 7, 1996, after he was shot four times by an unidentified assailant during a drive-by shooting in Paradise, Nevada. Shakur was in Vegas attending a Mike Tyson boxing match at the MGM Grand when he was making his way back home. While his murder remained unsolved for decades, in September 2023, a man named Duane "Keffe D" Davis was arrested and charged in connection with the murder.

Pearlman, during the podcast, reflected on Shakur's death and said,

"Tupac's death is the dumbest s**t of all time. Because he died because all these guys sold him this lifestyle idea. But he wasn't it, he couldn't fight. He had no athleticism. He didn't know how to shoot a gun. He didn't like, he wasn't that guy. But he started to believe it"

When the podcast host chimed in saying, "He method acted it", Pearlman noted,

"100% method acted it."

Pearlman also denied that Shakur was shot 6 times and alleged that he was shot three times. Pearlman mentioned that he interviewed a "sh**load of people" from the incident, and narrated the shooting incident. He said,

"He's put into the ambulance. One of the EMTs in the ambulance. And Tupac did that twice. He put the finger up twice. The first time was when he saw Biggie standing there and he gave him the finger. And that whole thing that Biggie orchestrated this is total bulls**t. It's just not true. It's factually not true. The second time he gives a finger to one of the EMTs."
