Jeff Sperbeck’s son pays tribute to late father following John Elway golf accident

John Elway's longtime friend cum agent, Jeff Sperbeck's son, is speaking up following his father's demise.

In a statement following his dad's passing, Jackson Sperbeck penned a tribute on Instagram on Sunday, May 18, coupled with a carousel of images celebrating his father's life. One such photo showed a young Jackson nestled atop his dad's shoulders, while the caption read:

“Your footsteps gave me direction. I’ll walk the rest with purpose. I love you dad,” Jackson wrote.

Other photos showed Jeff Sperbeck dancing it out on the dancefloor at a family event and sharing ice cream with his children.

NBC News has reported that the agent for the Hall of Fame quarterback, 62, was slain in an "accident," Southern California officials announced on Friday. His demise came almost two weeks after he fell from a golf cart being driven by Elway, 64, Us Weekly has reported.

The incident took place at the Madison Club in La Quinta, California, on April 26. It culminated in Jeff Sperbeck sustaining a traumatic brain injury and being placed on life support, with doctors keeping his body alive to later donate the organs. According to TMZ, Elway, Sperbeck, their respective spouses, as well as John, were returning from a Stagecoach afterparty at the time.

Per NBC News, Jeff Sperbeck's demise was ruled as “blunt head trauma," as indicated in a statement from the Riverside Sheriff’s Coroner Bureau, which also referred to the tragedy as an "accident." The "mode of death" was described as: “Passenger fell from golf cart," per the outlet.

Elway issued a statement in the wake of his friend's demise on April 30, mourning his loss:

“I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing of my close friend, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck,” Elway said. “There are no words to truly express the profound sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me.” “My heart and deepest sympathies go out to Jeff’s wife, Cori; his children Carly, Sam and Jackson; and everyone who knew and loved him,” the statement continued. “Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship and love he brought into my life and the lives of so many others.”

According to TMZ, Sperbeck's family said he "was a wonderful father, husband, brother, son and friend to many" who "will be profoundly missed by all."

“We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our beloved Jeff Sperbeck. He was a wonderful father, husband, brother, son and friend to many and will be profoundly missed by all,” the family said. “We are grieving this unimaginable loss as a family alongside our dearest friends the Elways and the many other clients Jeff called friends.”

The family said they are “grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of support” they've received, but are requesting the public to grant them privacy during their time of mourning.
