Jennifer Garner is wishing her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, a happy Father's Day.
The 53-year-old actress took to Instagram Stories on Sunday, June 15, to share a tribute to her former beau. She shared a throwback photo of the actor, 52, lying on a couch with one of their children lying on his chest.
“Happy Father’s Day to 3 people’s favorite landing spot,” she captioned it.
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck share three children: Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13. Since their divorce back in 2018, they have spoken highly of their co-parenting styles and their bond with each other. Just this April, Affleck told GQ:
"I’m really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids’ mom, who’s wonderful and great and we work together well."
He also reflected on how he and Garner would talk to their children when there were stories about them on newsstands:
"They would see something on a supermarket stand, we would say, 'Well, you know, this isn’t always true, because if it were, you would have 15 brothers or sisters or whatever the number of stories is where they said that your mom was pregnant,' " Affleck said. "I know what’s going on in my life. And also, really more importantly, my kids know," he added.
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's relationship explored
In her stories on Instagram, Jennifer Garner also paid tribute to her late father, William John Garner, who died in March 2024 at the age of 85.
“Being fathered by someone who loves being a dad is a gift,” she wrote. “My sisters and I know this and (lucky for us) all of our kids do, too.” She continued, “Happy Father’s Day to the Dads, no matter where you are. To the uncles and grandfathers and father figures, too. We love you.”
Jennifer and Affleck, who tied the knot in 2005, came together to celebrate Mother's Day in May. At the time, the latter was spotted arriving at Garner's residence in Brentwood, California, clutching a small gift.
"When you have children with somebody, you're connected to them forever," Affleck told PEOPLE in 2020. "And I'm very lucky she is the mother of my children. I'm very grateful and respectful of her. Our marriage didn't work, and that's difficult. Both of us really believe that it's important for kids to see their parents respect one another and get along, whether they're together or not."
The Daily Mail has reported that Jennifer Garner has been dating businessman John Miller on and off since 2018. In April, a source told Us Weekly that Miller was “basically living with Jennifer part-time.” As for Ben Affleck, following his divorce, he moved on to Jennifer Lopez, whom he married and has since divorced.
“There’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly … the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,” he told GQ in March. “There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue [about our divorce]. The truth is, when you talk to somebody, ‘Hey, what happened?’ Well, there is no, ‘This is what happened.’”
Back in March, rumors began swirling that Jennifer Garner and Affleck were rekindling their romance when they were seen hugging each other while out paintballing with their kids. However, a source told the Daily Mail that Garner is "deathly afraid of falling back in love" with the Batman actor, adding that she still has "trust issues."
"She loves Ben but is worried that he will crush her all over again,' the source said. 'She doesn't want to heal another broken heart because it is just too much drama, plus she does not want their kids to see round two of their mom in a bad place with their dad. So much could go wrong if they reunite."
